What a PITA, the two nuts on the studs under the elbow could not be accessed with a socket or with the ring end of a wrench or crows foot. So they ended up Elbow tight and I hate it.

I am tempted to grind a little on the elbow to allow access of a crows foot so I can torque it but do not want to mess up the paint job.

On a Positive note it seems to allow about 2 psi higher boost at WOT, hitting and holding 41 psig when before I could hit 39.

 

Did you smooth out the inside of the horn?

I researched further after I posted on your other thread and was surprised to find that S&B had switched to aluminum for their intake horn.

The old URL I had bookmarked still took me to a page for a composite horn which after I updated the URL no longer appears on the website.

 

Yea I took a wire wheel and sand paper wheel to the elbow but I was too lazy to take photos. It cleaned up nice but was still not as smooth as I would have liked. That said the stock elbow is not real smooth either.

 

The installation of 2 of the studs does take a bit longer because of the location; however, we figured that it was worth the extra 15-20 minute investment to maximize the airflow of the elbow. We could have just dropped the bolts in the air path like our competitors which would have allowed you to use a socket, but we figured our customer wanted the best airflow possible and would understand our reasoning especially since we called it out in the installation instructions on page 5. We posted test results conducted in our ISO 5011 Lab on everyone making Elbow, so you could see how the industry stacks up.. Thanks for your support. - Berry
