3406E Cat

Has anybody heard or performed a "90deg" injector bump on a 3406E Cat before? I heard it is suppose to be a good power increase but can't find any info on performing it.

There used to be a link to 3406B hot rod tips. Don't know the difference between the E & B. Might try a search for 3406B.

The 3406E is more of electronic engine since 1996 to 1999 and the 3406B is older like late 80's and early 90's series engine mechanical.

Sounds like its a fuel timing change... never heard of it, but if you get info on exactly whats being changed, post it. Why not just go with a re-rate?

send the computer to cat and have them change it for you. If you have a 550 e already they wont go any farther but their are companies out their that make black boxes for them to add like 200hp or more

I stay up-to-date on any and all performance upgrades--or atleast try to--and I have NEVER heard of what you guys are trying to do here with a 3406E. Nor do I think that its possible for the average guys to come up with a feature such as this to manipulate ECM timimg and injection duration changes without some form of a "box"

Somebody at a dealership told me about the injector bump. He said its a common thing for a good power boost and the 3406Es

Hey Catdiesel, sounds like somebody has decided that cranking on the injector adjuster screws (whether advancing or retarding the injector timing) is making more power. hhmmm.. surely not.....
