i smell a revolution coming

this is ridiculous

how is this any different than a hybrid or full electric car? The electricity being used to power the car does not have a road tax on it just like WMO or whatever?

What if i make a car that runs on dirt? are they going to fine me for using dirt to run my car because im not paying taxes on it? Have i not already payed taxes on it in some other way??!

The real problem is the federal tax cut back!
Since everyone wanted to pay less taxes, feds don't give states as much and states don't give localities. Everyone has less public money to play with....but the crooks..I mean duely elected officials all still want to play so instead of raising local taxes (oooo bad for re-election) or cutting the pork fluff (also bad for re-election) they work creative means to raise money.
I just read an article where cities have doubled the parking fines

So you see by using alternative fuels you have stolen the money that could be used for very important projects like an indoor rainforrest in Montana, or studying the effects of cowfarts on the ozone or most important of all those absolutely essential 35% raises for Congressmen and Senators.

perfect example of raising parking fees.

In Raleigh, NC they removed the old style parking meters that took quarters. they put in a large box that you either pay cash or now credit card and it cost $.50 an hr to park.. which does not seem to bad..

well here is the catch..

so you park and pay the $.50 and you only stay for 30 mins.. then next person comes and parks in your spot.. the can not tell how much time is left from your payment so they go pay $.50 for an hr. the city just made double on that spot during the 30 min overlap..

now lets say you pay for 1hr of time and you need to go back out and extend your time.. you go back out and pay.. but you pay 5 mins early from the 1hr time run out.. you just lost 5 mins of parking that you all ready paid for.

oh and the system will not let you pay for more then 1hr at a time..

Ken,that's all you pay, here they start at 1.50 an hour for coins and 2.00 for credit cards. This is from 7:00 am to 8:00pm,Mon/Sat!! Now across the bay it is a little more, like 3.50 per hour and .70 an hour for motorcycles.Fines start at 50.00 and go up from there.

Question

so did you ever look into the cost of that "blending license" and all the other associated stuff that will be bundled in with it?

The license is free.

You are really just registering with the state and federal goverment to let the know you will be using the wmo (blending agent) and how much you plan to use.

If your usage is high enough you have to be bonded.

The state requires a monthly payment of road tax and the feds a quarterly payment.

It will only cost you about $.50 a gallon for the road tax so your cost of fuel will be very low after you figure your cost to filter and your blending fuel.

The drawback is RECORD KEEPING. I was told by the revenue agant that you must keep very good records of your wmo, blending fuel, milage etc. etc. You have to be ready when they come checking.

If you run a simple filter set up like I did you can filter 100
+ gallons for the cost of a $4 filter. Then if you blend 80% wmo plus the cost of tax paid diesel fuel you are talking about approx. $.95 a gallon for you fuel.

If you are doing alot of driving I guess all the hassel and record keeping would be well worth the savings!!!

Running a mix of WMO and diesel in NC.....$1000 per occurrence
Manufacturing or purchasing a locking fuel cap/door.....$50 max
Watching the guys trying to figure out get your fuel cap open....Priceless
Planting illegal fuel in their personal vehicle and reporting it.....Illegal, immoral, but downright hilarious and equally priceless.

The locking fuel cap/door would be perfect if they didnt charge you the same $1000 fine for refusal to let them dip.

They got you either way!

what is the process for dipping? just stick a tube in and suck out? or how does that work? One would say its just as easy as putting a anti syphon screen on your tank and then say its not my fault i let you i didnt know it was in there ha ha. Nah on a more serious note though. It is horse radish that they can just go and do it whenever. Seems like some rights violation.
