I live in Bremen GA and want a experienced person to tell me my options to find a way around the current price of 4.24 per Gallon for diesel down at my local Texaco. Anyone know of where to get bio around here? or anyone selling anything that has a proven record around here? I am 25 min from douglasville GA and 50 min from Aniston AL. I am very inexperienced and not sure of making my own and I am having trouble filtering through the massive amounts of info on DSE,SVO,WSVO, and bio and homemade bio....shew... Help!!!

OBTW, I wish I could pay $4.24/gal. Here in the Bay Area we pay between $4.50/gal to as much as $4.75/gal.....Bio is between $3.75-$4.15/gal, and that is for B99....

 

I have found one place that sells 45 min from here in marietta GA, and another in Rome GA both have bio b20 and that cost as much as regular diesel??? I also found a place to buy b100 in bulk and they charge 5.09/Gallon wow it cost almost a dollar more. I am starting to think this is not a good ideal and I am screwed!

 

The short story is you can use waste oil, maybe even up to 50/50 if you filter it well.
You can use veggie oil straight up only if you convert the struck to pre-heat the stuff and it is pre-filtered and dried before use.
You can use biodiesel but you will need to purchase parts for an appleseed reactor (maybe 400$ total) and plumb it yourself or buy an expensive rig. Then youll need measuring/testing supplies and a recurring cost of lye and methanol. Biodiesel needs to be washed and dried (if washed with water) to remove remaining lye, methanol and glycerin.
You can dry veggie or biodiesel by putting it in a water heater, heating to 160 and bubbling compressed air through the bottom or pulling a vacuum on it and flashing off the water.
no free deals unfortunately. Its a lot of work and its still not cheap.
There is risk involved especially on anything with a VP44 or newer CP3 with higher pressures.

 

Welcome to what others have to put up with every day. The reason Bio is up so high is the price of oil they make Bio out of has gone up a lot in the past few months do to future speculation on farm crops, other countries having bad harvest and the growth in population in many countries that need to import more food to feed them.

 

I have never found bio to be any cheaper that just plain diesel.
I guess BIO-***** figures we'll pay the extra just out of environmental concerns!

 

The environment is just fine. That is the government trying to scare us. Taxes vaccines, tyranny..... Those scare me. I happen to care more about me and my town than some lie about the Globe warming. All this just sucks! 4.24 and now I find that that is not so bad after all. grrrr

 

Methanol has been real expensive. I was looking around online and it looks like its dropped a bit for May.

 

Fuel prices where I'm at dropped 4 cents yesterday...It'll probably go up 10 cents tomorrow!!
