I think it's just unfair! That thing looks like it belongs there. Why can't GM do that?

Man you did a great job!.

Yikes. Glad you're ok and have power again. Did you have a generator during the blackout? Any damage to your home?

Thanks.

We lost power 1015 hrs Monday. At the time, I did not have a generator. Tuesday morning my neighbor attempted to put his generator online, but the generator would not start. Wednesday afternoon. I repaired the generator and he & I shared it. It required coordination of load, but we made do. I will soon purchase an 8kw natural gas generator and manual transfer switch (or a 3 phase disconnect) for future needs.

Gustav wreaked havoc on my 21 year old fiberglass shingled roof. Fortunately, I did not get water in my home. I want to replace it with corrugated metal similar to my shop.

95Z289A4,

hey those are some nice photos that you posted on the BT4 forum. Your install looks clean as if it was factory. The heater hose connectors - Are they from Cummins or did you improvise? Why did you use all three connectors?

Those are pics of 3.3Sonoma's build. He posted the link on page 39 of this thread. I posted the link on 4btswaps to provide proof of his build to a disbeliever. On 05/30/2008, the disbeliever asked for photos as proof of the build.

I'm collecting parts to build a serpentine accessory drive for qsb3.3t. I've purchased a March Performance 6.5" SBF crank pulley and some salvage yard accessories in order to build the accessory brackets. I have a 1997 4.0 L Jeep Grand Cherokee A/C compressor and a 1997 2.5L Jeep Wrangler power steering pump & remote reservoir. I'm still searching for a 136 amp alternator for a 1997-1998 4.0L Grand Cherokee. The March Performance pulley was $15 off ebay, is flat and large enough to slip over the qsb3.3t crank pulley. I'll have my brother machine an adapter to attach March pulley to the Cummins pulley. Once the accessories are mounted, ASP racing will machine a custom pulley for the water pump. I spoke to Lee with ASP and he said with my measurements he can machine a custom fit water pump pulley for ~ $150.

I still haven't decided on a transmission. I've narrowed my choices to 1997-1999 Jeep AX15 or 2002-2004 Dakota NV3500.

For a front axle I will use a 1996-1999 Cherokee hi pinion Dana 30 with 3.07 gears. It is a bolt in for the Grand Cherokee and is readily available with 3.07 gears for about the same price as re-gearing the weaker Grand Cherokee low pinion Dana 30.

IMHO the 1993-1998 Grand Cherokee did not have any decent rear axles available from the factory. I can purchase expensive bolt-in aftermarket rear axles that are much more robust than I need. I will probably use a 1987-1989 Cherokee Dana 44. Of course I'll have to strip the brackets off the Dana 44 and weld the Grand Cherokee brackets to it, but it is available with factory 3.07 gears and I'll save a bundle over an aftermarket Dana 60.

Speaking of hoses, I've located and ordered a thermostat housing that seems better suited for low hood applications. It bends over to the passenger side instead of pointing upward. It was $65!! shipped. I've attached a link to a pdf. Go to pages 9 & 10 for pictures and a part number.

All of the heater hose connections were existing plugs on the engine. The one in the center next to the thermostat is actually the factory gm temperature sensor. I just put the protective loom covering over the wires so it may look like a hose.
As for an update the truck has been running good. I have almost 14,000 miles on it now. I changed the rearend oil to synthetic over the weekend to see if it would help mileage. I filled up yesterday which half the tank was used after the rearend lube change. I got 39.4 MPG. I am getting very close to my goal of getting 40MPG without having to change my driving habits.
Im sure I could get 40 if I drove slower or laid off the go pedal but driving on the tollways all the time it is just not going to happen.

Hey guys,

thanks for the info. I like the info from the Genco Mine Service manual, especially the Vickers power steering setup. I plan on using an electric Renault pump that I bought off Ebay, but may switch to the Vickers.

40 MPG from a Sonoma truck is great! I'll be happy to get 32 MPG with the Cherokee! I know my Liberty gets 24 MPG and some were getting 30 MPG before Chrysler was forced to reprogram the chips and the introduction of low sulfer diesel.

Vickers pump

I spoke to genco last month about the Vickers pump. If I recall correctly, the price was $500+ and the pressure was a little low compared to the factory saginaw pump. I spec'd out a pump on the Vickers website and called a company I found online for a price...........$600+. That's when I decided to pursue the serpentine accessory drive.

I've attached a link to a pdf of Vickers vane pumps. For power steering, the B3.3T would use a V10 pump with 3 gpm delivery at 1500 psig. Page 5 of the pdf has a brake down of the model codes.

95Z28A4,

This looks like a similar pump:

one of there power steering pumps:

Would the pump need a keyed shaft or splined teeth?

The specs for my engine's front gear train accessory drive is:

DF9157-01 Fro Ger Tra Acc Mounting MR - MOUNTING, FRO GER TRA ACC
Gear Drive Pump Drive Flange Type:
SAE 82-2 (SAE A)
Gear Drive Pump Drive Shaft Type:
SAE 19-4 (11 Tooth)
Accessory Drive Location:
Front Gear Cover Right Side Back
Pump Drive Ratio: 1:1
Gears Supplied: Yes
Cover Plate Provided: Yes
To Suit Gear Housing Pilot Bore (mm): 82.5

I copied this info from Cummins QuickServe for my ESN. Basis this, I'd say the shaft is 11 spline. I haven't had the cover plate off my engine, so I can't say for sure.

I'd guess a pump similar to the FlowMaster 0.60 cu in VANE PUMP V101P3P1C, but with an 11 tooth splined shaft would work if the pressure could be adjusted from 2500 psig to 1500 psig..........possibly with a relief spring replacement.

Remanufactured Vickers Pumps

I just found a vendor on ebay that has remanufactured Vickers Pumps for less than $150 shipped. They have 500 available. Please read the auction carefully as it lists options available. I suggest you call and ask questions. I'm also leaving for a 1.5 week vacation this weekend. I'll have my laptop, but may not have access every day of the trip.

B3.3t Help

I just picked up a B3.3T that has some parts missing really cheap. I was wondering if someone could explain the fuel shut off to me or send a picture of it.
