Duramax Now Fastest Truck In World

"Last run of the day for the Sidewinder Type-D, 8.22 sec @ 164 MPH in the 1/4 mile. It now holds the title of Quickest Diesel Pickup Truck, and it is a Duramax. No smoke, running on pump #2 ULSD and nitrous, no propane, alchohol or other additiives.

I'm sure there will be more to report tomorrow.

Umm I think this is the 3rd repost of that, and there is a Cummins that ran faster than it too.

The first post had the Dmax running an 8.64 and that was when everyone said the Cummins ran a 8.4x something... this is the first I have seen of the Dmax running an 8.22, but I could have missed a thread....

EDIT: Nevermind... that other thread grew since the last time I read it... it did post about the 8.22... sorry -

Fastest lightweight tube chassis vehicle maybe. Kind of hard to call that thing a truck. I find the 9 second full size trucks much more impressive. But that is quick. I've always thought Greg Hogue came across as a bit of an arrogant snot on the forums but what Banks did to him on a public forum no less after Greg cheerleaded for him for over a year was uncalled for. That's kind of uncouth for someone in Bank's position but his lies on his website and in his ads have shown that he was capable of it I guess.

It's a very impressive time. But I wouldn't call it faster unless it was an apples to apples comparison. All this is showing is how deep his pockets are to get it to go that fast.

To me it's like taking a big block & putting it into a dodge omni and compairing the original car to the omni on how much more powerful it is. They are both the same engine. Not that one is more powerful than the other.

Don't get me wrong, that's fast. It would just mean more to me if it was done by a stock bodied 1 ton.

To me, who should be considered faster would to have exactly the same setup @ the same weight to see who's is fastest with the same modifications. Now that should be on PINKS!

All things considered in racing, Normally the one's with the largest wallets are at the top of the class. It takes money to make power. Skills & abilities determine the winner when all things are equal. To me that's what racing is all about, the skills & abilities.

Banks D-Max 8.22 @164mph

C/P from another Cummins site.

Banks D-Max 8.22 @164mph

We just broke the record again! Thursday in Las Vegas we made another series of runs and went even faster. We beat the previous record of 8.61 with our own 8.22 @164mph!! This is still on the road race engine and not our drag engine. I'll be posting up some video when the race team get's back this weekend!

Oh now it's the road race engine and not the 2 years in the making dragrace engine. Here we go again. Sounds like his website where he claims to have had the fastest truck at a certain diesel event but must have accidently forgotten that Maddog ran 11.79 to his Dakota's 12 something pass in his ad.

I agree all this b s mouthing about fast trucks burns me. I would like to see daily driven work trucks consistantly run low 12's to high 11's as opoosed to these light weight racers run 8's and 9's.

I feel that a impressive truck was the BullyDog powered DODGE on an episode of PINKS. Now that company makes power equipment for all brands and choose DODGE as their truck to beef up and run on national TV. That to me is saying something. They could have lost the vehicle if it lost the race so they were not going to risk anything. That tells me how impressive the DODGE Cummins can be.

I just like how the Dr P truck and all the other tube trucks out there just showed up and did their thing, instead of hyping the living stinkin' heck out of them.....

Now all that he has to do is compete with it against other diesels at events such as DHRA . It has done its thing now will be put up and never brought out again.
