N14 Trouble
My truck has started to act like it has no throttle after driving it 15-20 mins. The problem started on Sunday and on monday a put a new potentiometer on the gas pedal. The truck still does it. I had changed the fuel line to the back of the head recently and all the electronic connections got soaked in diesel. There was a small leak for a while too. It will do this with the cruise on as well. Has anyone had trouble like this before.

theses engine are real particular about what fuel filter is on them and the little T block where the fuel draws out of the tanks and goes to 1 line tends to leak air into the fuel system. check those. i have found the engine run better with a Fleet guard filter. if you get one with the water separator on it make sure the separator **** is tight i have found those are just loose enough to not leak noticeably and will cause issues

I took it to a shop and they found that under the shrink on the wire to the fuel shutoff solenoid was corroded almost all the way through. They put on a new connector and the problem went away. The truck was good until I was driving on some really rough road and it started to act up again. Maybe the changes in voltage to the solenoid wore it out? I hate this electrical BS.

Check your ecm grounds, they should be on the block near where the ecm is mounted. Make sure you have a whistle clean ground going from the battery to the frame and from the frame to the engine block.
Also check the fuel input line to the ecm cooler. There is (sometimes) a strainer located where the feed line enters the ecm cooler that gets clogged up with debris starving the motor for fuel. You have to remove the feed line to the cooler, then remove the adapter/strainer from the cooler to clear it. If there is no strainer then blow out the cooler with compressed air.

I agree with the above post. I've come across this quite a bit fixing trucks out on the road. Not sure what make of truck ya got, but most have been IH's that have given me problems. Make sure the gnd is good, and also trace back the ECM power wire and make sure it hasn't rubbed through anywhere, and if there is an in-line fuse, make sure it has a good connection.

Thanks for the help guys. I bought a new shutoff solenoid to try as well. I will clean up grounds and check the fuel strainer. I have a '95 T800.

I found that the ecm ground was loose. The lock washer that was on it must have cracked and fell off. I put on a new lock washer and tightened it up so hopefullyl I am good now. Thanks for the help.
