It would be like stuffing a VW bug under the hood of a Dodge.

I've read about that one. I believe it was the 8.3L C series Cummins.

An N14 is huge. I don't know what the exact dimensions are, but the engine weight is over 2K. Any light duty truck would require EXTENSIVE modification to fit and run an N14.

I think it may be closer to 4k.......a complete running 855 that is.

This is the power unit of the Case-IH Steiger 9170
& 9180's as well as many over the raod trucks. IT's over 3k lbs, and not efficient for any type of automotive application (although I doubt you had that in mind...)

haha - No one even mentioned the idea of a fuller 18spd ... which probably closer to the size to an actual 5.9 than it is to a 5 speed pickup tranny. I had the pleasure, or displeasure of pulling one of these out of a burnt rig in the field this summer, let me tell you it is definitely one big mother, far too big for me to ever consider putting it in a pickup.

As long as you have a long bed truck it should ride there in the back just fine. Of course a dually might carry the weight better.

speaking of crazy powertrains though, no joke at macungie this year there was an old International pickup (not a scout, a 1 ton with a service body) with a 3-53 detroit and a 5x3 double club trans. the sticks came up almost to the headboard. apparently it was ordered that way from the factory!
