Yup that will work, just don't go to big on the external gate. Of course that depends on how much power you running (exhaust mass flow). The 44mm is a decent size, if you run a tighter turbine housing and smaller turbine disk size. Internal/external gates are opened based on drive pressure. Kinda of a balancing act. I've done all mine by the SOP meter, which works well. You start opening the gate to keep the drive pressure at 1:1 or better. The tighter housing works nice if you shift gears, is just seems to take for ever to build back up the boost, then you have to shift gain. How well do you have control on the gate? Is it a quick openning or slow? Can you adjust it? I wanted to run the pressure adjuster just on the passager side of the truck so I can tweak and drive. This twin build I'm thinking about putting in lots of pressure taps and temperature to do some baselining stuff. I was even thinking about getting a mass flow measuring device, just for tuning. I have a decent data acquision system for incab measuring.
