GM Dash Issues

Hoping some of you GM gurus out there can help.

My sister has an '04 yukon, and the gauges quit working the other day. They didn't fall to zero, they are stuck at 80 km/h and 2k rpm, and wherever the little gauges happened to be at the time. The LCD display doesn't come on, the dummy lights don't come on, but the backlight still works. I didn't ask if the turn indicators work, or if the gauges go to zero when off, I guess I should have. Is this an issue with the gauge cluster, or a PCM issue, a fuse (seems unlikely), or what? Everything else works fine she said, tranny shifts fine, but I don't know much about chev's and how many computers they use and what they do.

Believe it or not, it could be the multifunction switch in the steering column. It has the ability to screw with major things in the dash... just that thought

Trailblazer's had a problem with the cluster too----basically it a pull out/throw away,plug/play with the new one----- to the tune of 800.00 bucks @ the dealer---Sucks.Mine happened to hang in there but the needles made some kind of low level noise when moving only i could hear----GM issue i guess ---. A friend had to replace his out of warranty.

When I talked to my sister today, she said that there is a recall out for 03-04 trucks, so she is going to the dealer tomorrow, hopefully that pans out. I did post this on CompD as well, and there is a couple guys there who can fix this, and one posted a link for a cluster for $200. I just wonder if they have metric ones. With any luck, that won't be needed.
