Fuel Mileage

Anyone else seem to have taken a bigger hit from the winter fuel this year than previous? I was running 18-19 mpg all summer, last tank was 14, and this tank is shaping up to be worse. I'm wondering if its the fuel, or the truck.

There is one thing I notice in the last month....I seem to be burning way more fuel once I switched from Husky diesel to Super Store diesel...

Co-op in Airdrie, generally. I had good luck with Fas Gas in Devon as well. Those have been my two fuel up spots for the last year.

I have noticed a bit more of a drop off than normal but not that big and all I burn is co-op fuel out of my tanks at home so it takes me a bit of time to get from summer fuel, through a tank of their "fall blend" to full winter fuel

I could check it easily enough. Had the FP gauge hooked up about a month and a half ago, it was 40+ psi still. I'm gonna try a different station when I gotta fill up next.

Tate your espar must been burning up a bunch of fuel.

I've noticed the usual fuel mileage drop from summer to winter as well. Some winter fuel is worse than other stuff. Could be from extra engine idlin, I typically run my truck more during the winter than the summer months.

When I'm working during the -28 and colder stuff, typically I just left my truck running 16-18hrs a day, for 4-5 days a week, so its hard to get a decent fuel mileage number.

I have gone through close to half a tank in 200 km. I know how much the Espar uses. I was able to run it for an hour on a Snapple bottle of kerosene. I run it for 2 hours a day, roughly. I noticed my boost was close to 10 psi on the highway and egt's were 7-800. Back in the summer, I was typically running low 600's and about 5 psi. I have a few things to look into.

On another note, my dually is leaking oil out of 5 of the 6 exhaust ports. Huzzah!

Oh well... the world is going to end on Friday...So who cares...

I'm still waiting for my espar to show-up honestly I don't track my fuel mileage during the winter. Maybe I should, found out that my 2010 transmission just had a sensor issue.

I guess that the GT42 is about as big you can go with a stock 53 block running a 13mm pump, stuff you find when trying to make her purdy again.

The dually really should be 24V deleted and have a 12V under the hood. Tate, I do have a spare freshly ported 12V hamilton head, oversized valves and springs stilling at Dave's. I also have a bunch of 53's blocks/cranks I can give ya so you can start the dualy build-up. Probably have six or so of those 53's.

I'll pass on the Hami head, I'll wait to see how that new aluminum 12v head pans out. I've got my extra 12v that will be getting a rebuild over the next while. I think its the valve seals, but I haven't pulled the valve cover yet to see. I really don't care at this point, the truck is going to be in the garage until it comes apart anyway. Its a mock-up piece currently.
