I run it in the mornings in summer time if I am up that early. I usually don't have the cab heat on, but its nice being able to get in and able to flog on the engine a little bit faster.

can't give you a gauranteed sale, but could you PM me a price for a kit that would work on my truck?

thanx,

LOL, mostly it was just because I didn't find this thread till recently. I have only been active on the Alberta section, since this summer.

But the group buy thing was the other great reason, yeah that's it, that is why I didn't tell people before... (really I would love to take credit for that, but I am not that smrt)

Just thought I'd add to the thread. While getting a fuel and oil filter and Cummins today I asked for a quote on an Espar D5. Around $1180 with the 24hr timer. I'm going to keep shopping around a bit and see what I can find. I saw the Mack dealer was advertising Webastos on their billboard outside the shop. Didn't see any prices but I'm gonna check it out anyways.

Peterbilt on 114th Ave had a webasto and Espar sale on. the espar was competitive. with the webasto way too expensive.

yes, got the 7 day timer.

tate is going to give me a hand installing it on saturday. he's done a couple so hpefully things go smooth. i have to meet up with him so he can see the kit contents - sounds like my kit and his are a bit different as far as what parts are included. also, my unit has an external fuel pump - his is internal. maybe they have changed things over the years . . .

any tips/advice on the install shane? where did you mount unit and 7 day timer?

i am plannig on mounting the timer to the right of the driver on the solid panel directly below the flip-down ash tray

You will love it J... Its just soo darn handy..

This is where I put my controller. The mount came with the kit..

Shane said this location doesn't work on short boxes due to the fuel tank position.. But mine is on the drivers frame rail by the transfer case..

Yes, they Espar did make that change as some people were having issues. Trying to pump gelled fuel too far. I dunno really.

My heater is mounted in the engine compartment. Believe me, there are not a lot of places to mount this thing on a shortbox truck. A long box is a different story. My timer is in the glovebox.

I will try to snap a couple of pics for you tonight Jason. I still have not hooked up to the fuel system - but am going to try fueling it from a 2L pop bottle under the hood - looks like today is going to be warm so thats the project for tonight.

I sell them cheaper then that.

Also on the internal vs external fuel pumps, Espar still sells both varieties the external is just a more flexible setup, they also sell a unit with an external water pump. It really just depends on application. All of the 3rd gen dodge kits use an internal fuel pump kit, all of the other truck kits use and external fuel pump kit. Lots of options and varieties.

I did an install that we used a 5L windshield washer tank. This will provide a calculated 8hrs of minimum run time (in reality it was more like 12hrs) or about two weeks of preheats in the morning. The two liter pop bottle should give you a minimum of 3.5hrs of run time.

I have a number of customers, that run a separate fuel tank for their Espar's as this allows them to run kerosene, which runs much better at below -25c, as well as it doesn't carbon up the heater nearly as quickly as diesel does.
