Adding factory Remote Start

Ok gents, my current truck is a 2010 TRX4 and has the remote start. When I took the rig into the dealer for the L16 recal we starting chatting about my old 05 Power Wagon and how I missed it. (u know where this is going)

Well they have a line on a 2012 PW for me and are going to make me a pretty good deal on it but it doesn't have the remote start. Anyone here know if the factory one could be put in and roughly how much I would be looking?

I do understand I would have to purchase new FOB but sales person (as nice as he is, isn't up to speed on all things that can be done on vehicles) says I would have to get an after market RS which would mean another thing on my key chain

Thanks for your info

I would not bother getting the factory remote starter. In my opinion the range SUCKS. I would go the after market route and go with the DIRECTED SMART START add on this allows u to use your cell phone to start ur vehicle with an unlimited range.
There are also systems out there that do this as well. My wife has the DIRECTED system in her car and it kicks ***.

With this system there is no extra fob to carry. And who doesn't have a cell phone these days.

If you still want the factory remote start you can add it to any gas or diesel truck IF it's a auto transmission.

I had the dealer install mine, part of the sale. Salesman did tell me it was like $650 though. I like it, the range isn't super far but theres no additional key fobs and it works well.

650...man if you check it as an option during build, it was only like a 250 dollar option. That sucks but I am going to have to check into it

Thanks for the reply

The salesman was coming up with numbers and told him i don't know this truck doesn't have remote start. He looked into it came back and said we'll install it for you at $650. So I kept on poking him about the remote start and how the truck I traded in had. Finally the manager said if I throw it in will you buy the truck. I told i'd be more likely to buy it and then we kept whittling down the numbers. So I'm guessing his price was cost of unit and them to install it.

youch 650.. A after market one plugs in to the harness. the only other wire needed is the power wire up to the battery. I'm sure thinking of putting one in.. I hate the idea of a second key fob..
