2016 Dodge Cummins Ram

Just for fun I was playing around with an on-line Dodge webpage that allows you to "design" a new truck. I was curious what a new Dodge/Cummins truck cost. But the webpage wouldn't let me specify a Cummins engine in anything but a dually truck. Did they stop putting the Cummins in a 2-WD 2500? Is this the new norm?

Drop the mouse and slowly back away from the computer, there is still time to not pull the trigger.... on a new Dodge truck. I haven't tried to order a new truck since 2014 but after seeing the problems with the newer trucks it wouldn't surprise me if a Cummins engine is only available in a dually as it's much more likely NOT to be used as a daily driver/grocery getter.

Oh, unless a ton of unforseen $$ shows up in my accounts I won't be getting one, but I was curious.

When I got my 12 I "had" plans to get a brand new 2015. OMG. Had changed to real fast. Have they lined the gloved boxes with 24k. gold? My same 12 would be a $64k 2015. For $34k, I can fix an awful lot of stuff. Probably will never even spend $34 k to fix everything during it's time with me.

Thanks Dave. The link was on a side-bar advert on a website I was looking at. So I clicked on it. I don't know if it was a Chrysler website or maybe a dealer, but it wouldn't let me specify a Cummins engine in anything but a dually.

The website is Ramtrucks.com It's funny, but tonight I can pull up a Cummins powered 2500. I don't know why I couldn't do it the other night.

There should be a slue of good used low mileage high end trucks coming your way dealers down there have been buying up every one of them and hailing semi loads across the line making huge profits selling them because of the dollar difference. I quit looking for a good used one as the dealers wont move on the price as the southern dealers are paying full price without batting and eye. But the good thing is there driving the price up one mine !!!!!

Im new to Ram as i'm a Ford guy. But i do like the 2500 mecacab and Rambox Cummins diesel truck. My question is how long does a cummins engine last? is 200,000 KM too high or is that just broken into?

What are some of the things to look for in bying a 2016-2018 Ram 2500 Cummins engine truck?

Thanks,

Alex.

Here's a hint: My 1995 Dodge/Cummins 2500, 2WD has 433,270 miles on it as of today. I've never had any engine work done, except to set the valves twice. I expect to get another 400,000 or so miles out of it before I retire it. It's putting out about 300 h.p. and 600 Ft lbs of torque.

What are the issues using these as a grocery getter? Mine will haul heavy loads when pulling the trailer but mostly it will just go down to the store . . .

None that I've seen...My 2009 DRW mostly hauls my groceries from the store on short trips, with the occasional load of scrap to the recycler...I get consistent 13 to 15 mpg with no issues...I had the same experience with my 2003 version......Ben
