Anyone that can help I am wondering about replacing the u joints in my truck been told by the dealer it is about 1000 dollars for parts and labor then I talked to a friend who says that there maybe 3 ujoints on this truck. I am not a mechanic but I have some friends who would help me out. The truck is clicking as I drive and I researched that on here and it says could be u joints any other issues that it could be. All your help is appreciated.

 

My dealership warrantied mine under the powertrain warranty. It was right around the 70k mile mark.

 

if 4x4 truck, has 5 total joints and a ball kit in transfer case side of front shaft. 2 joints rear shaft, 3 total in front shaft. I just did a complete front shaft job at my shop charged guys 296.00 plus tax. Check around and buy good joints that have zerks in the cups so you can grease with needle.

 

Plus the two u-joints on the front axle, but they usually only click when you're turning. Crawl underneath and check for play. Jack up the rear, then the front and turn the prop shafts by hand back and forth. Usually they start to squeak before they go.
