Manual trans getting hard to shift.
Manual trans getting hard to shift.
Truck has 43K miles and is bone-stock, trans fluid changed at 25K.
Reverse is VERY difficult, 1st & 2nd is pretty tough. Rarely, but occasionally pops out of 5th.
I usually start in 2nd and to get it into gear it seems to get part way into gear with the clutch depressed then jumps in the rest of the way as you release the clutch.
Not hard to get into 3rd thru 6th.
Any ideas?
Could it be a clutch problem?

Could be the clutch but it usually affects all gear. seems early on the fluid change. Supposed to be at least 100k fluid. Did you get the right fluid? When it was change was there any metal in the fluid? You could try double clutching when you shift if aren't already but shouldn't cause that much a problem. I would suspect something in the tranny is letting go.
Took it to the dealer. The problem is with the dual-mass flywheel. With the engine off and the clutch depressed you can run through all of the gears easily. Start the motor and it became very difficult to get into gear. They originally diagnosed it as a clutch problem but after opening it up determined that the problem was the flywheel. In any case I end up with a new clutch apparently.
