Converting from electric shift to manual shift T-case questions

So my electric shift 273 transfercase is toast, when accelerating/decelerating it's grinding, sounding like it's full of gravel but when holding the same speed it sounds ok, and in second gear (I have the NV5600), if I step on the fuel and breaks at the same time I can make the transfercase slip on the chain. So since it's no good anymore, I was thinking instead of putting money into an electric shift transfercase I don't like, how hard would it be to swap in a manual shift t-case? I did this on my old Ford Ranger and it was the best thing I ever did to it, now it turned out to be a nightmare since that year never came with one and I had to use an Explorer t-case and linkage out of a Bronco II. However since you could still get a manual shift t-case in an 03 like mine, I should be able to go to a wrecker and buy everything (linkage, t-case, shift boot, shifter ect) that would be different that I needed right? Is there any differences in wiring between the two that I would have to work out or should I be able to bolt everything in and have it work like it was factory? Or am I crazy and should I just put another 273 electric shift back in or rebuild mine?
