Lubing Front Driveshaft??? Huh?

I was just reading my maintenance schedule in the owners manual and it says to lube your front driveshaft on 4x4 models.

I took my truck to the dealer and asked them about this and even have the sticker underneath my hood that says to lube the driveshaft. Dealer tells me it doesn't need to lubed that they put that sticker on all the trucks, only some 4x4's need lubed and that my truck has a sealed bearing, so it doesn't need it. :confused013:

I am gonna be one ****** off SOB if I have to replace any bearings or anything front driveshaft related on my truck in the future cause I was misinformed. HELP!

There are no grease zerks . There is one spot where you will need a grease needle to get the grease in. Mine had a yellow bit of paint on it to show where it is.

you can buy the needle tool for your grease gun at NAPA. grease it then next time you take it into the dealer show them (preferably the turd that said you don't have to) and tell HIM that he needs to learn the products that they sell there before telling someone false information.

Idiots! I have 30,000miles on my truck and don't think this fitting has ever been greased. Hope no damage has been done!

Should I make them replace it since they fed me false info and I don't want any future problems with it? I'm sure they'll tell me to **** off but It can't hurt to try.

I would. I would also ask them what else they haven't been doing to your truck that they should be. If your front driveshaft goes out before your warranty is up, THEY should pay for it and not you because of the lack of lube for 30,000 miles. Hell they should pay for it whenever it gives up the ghost based on their own stupidity. Do they really think Dodge would put stickers on these trucks if it didn't require the front drive shaft lube?

This is the reason why I NEVER will let a dealership change oil in my truck. I just can't stand inept mechanics or their helpers. The service writers are also on that list...

I think a lot of mechs look for a Zerk fitting most will probably never have seen a flush fitting and if they did wouldn't have the means to lube it.

My dads truck had 55,000 miles on it before I finally greased his. The dealer said there is no such thing on that shaft. I greased it and then he took it back and showed them.

They still don't grease them.

Actually it was Great West back when I bought my '06 from them. One trip back for some TSB work and the truck never again stepped foot on their lot.
