Wiring a camper umbilical cord question
Hi,
I need to wire in my campers umbilical cord into my 2004 2500.
One wire is the ground, and one is for power that seems to be running off f of a relay, then there is a third wire... When I removed this from the truck of the person I purchased the camper from the third wire appeared to be tied into the tow package wiring that was running to the trailer hitch (?).
Where do I pull power from for the relay?
What does the third wire hook up to?
Thanks in advance.

That would be my guess also.
These trucks are wired from the factory so that the RV + (battery charge) wire is hot all the time. A lot of folks install either a battery isolator or a relay so the RV's power needs can't drain the truck's starting battery.
You could tap into key on power wherever it is handy.

I'm about to be doing the same thing for our 'new' camper. Ours has 4 wires and according to the schematic (06 Starcraft Pine Mtn) they are ground, running lights, fridge power, and house battery charge. I'm looking at putting a plug on the frame close to the cab/bed gap and run a short removable cord from there to the front drivers corner of the camper. I hate to tie it into the trailer wiring cause I'll still be pulling a trailer sometimes and don't want the double draw. I'm planning on taking the fridge and house charge from the truck battery through an isolater, ground to the frame, and running lights from the trailer circuit.
