Camper Package vs Non Camper Package ride height
Camper Package vs Non Camper Package ride height
I have a 1996 2500 extended cab without the camper package. The previous owner installed 2 inch leveling pucks on the front coils. This has resulted in the front end riding about 1 inch higher than the rear. I would like to be at level or even a little higher in the rear. Has anyone gone from camper to non-camper (or vice versa) on the rear suspension? If so have you noted a difference in ride height? If I can get level by switching out to the camper package that's what I'll do since I'd like to have the overloads and rear sway anyway. If not I do know that I can go to a spring shop and get fixed up. Do not want to use airbags. Any info would be appreciated, couldn't find the answer in search.
I have the camper package and no levelers whatsoever. The truck sits level until you put about 3000 pounds in the bed. And then the overload springs just barely touch the stops. I don't think you need the pucks to have a level ride....
Well I like the ride height in front and have already replaced shocks (longer) track bar (adjustable) and lengthened control arms to the the front end geometry back where it needs to be. I think I'll just work with a spring shop sometime this summer and have the rears bulked up a little and reworked to get an inch.
There are several options for leaf spring kits that will increase your ride height. The camper vs. non-camper will not effect the rear ride height if you are unloaded. It is only an additional overload spring that is not used until the leaf is compressed more than an 1" to 2".
