ride height
ride height
I'm sure this question has come up at one time or another, but since I'm kinda new here I was wondering if you guys could explain to me why my '93 D250 club cab 4x2 sits about 2" taller than a comparable '93 D350 club cab dually? I parked next to one the other day at the bank and could not believe how much higher(stock) my truck sat than this dually, also stock.
Also, I was wondering if there are any aftermarket springs for the front end of my '93 D250 4x2 that would lift it up a bit so my fenders don't scrape when I leave my driveway!
Re:ride height
I'd be interested in the explanation as well since I've noticed a similar difference btwn my '95 K2500 Sub & previous '95 K3500 Crewcab (K in the series # indicates 4WD). Difference is pretty significant. On the Sub I've got to get up on tippy-toe to get in (don't like putting my weight on the door -- sag) while with the crewcab I just slid right onto the seat.

Yeah ... I know ... they're not Dodges but I'm working on it. In fact, might be looking at a pretty beat up 'farm/ranch' W350 tomorrow.
Re:ride height
Take a look at the blocks between the rear axle and the springs. It may be that the 3/4 tons came with the taller blocks from the factory. I know my 92 W250 had about a 6.5 inch blocks when I purchased the truck in 92. I had Chrysler remove the 6.5 inch blocks and replace them with the 3 inch blocks so I could park the truck in the garage.
---
Al
Re:ride height
Good luck! I have looked and only found 1 place that would build me a set of front springs to give me a 1.5" lift and retain the same spring rate. Anybody got $700.00 lying around
- I know I don't. Planejane if you come up with a good solution I'm sure more than a few people would want to buy in.
Bob

Re:ride height
Thanks Bob for the info. Actually, I just happen to talk to a guy who knows a guy who used to build these springs for a living. He gave me the guys address and I went and visited him at his ranch over the weekend. He said he'd be glad to build me a set for my '93 4x2 materials cost plus $100! Wow! I said. So I took him up on the offer. He will have them ready for me this Friday. If it turns out good/great and the heigth and ride is what I'm looking for, I'm gonna ask him to start turning out a few pair a week for me so if any of you guys out there with these 1 gen's are looking for a lift I should have the info by next week.
I should add that this guys retired and rich, so money obviously not a factor!

You betcha Bill. I'll be picking them up this Friday morning and plan to have them in and aligned by that night. If everything goes well, i'll take some pic's of them and post it right here both before and after and the springs both before and after.
This site is just unbelievable. I have never been so appreciative by all the responses that I have received. Thanks again all of you guys! Keep up the good work.

Some measurements
Brought the mesuring tape out toi check the measurements on my truck. Just got the truck but looks like a spring leaf was added to the truck the ride hight is 13.5" from the from fender to the lip of the rim on the front and 15.5" from the fender to the lip of rim in the rear. Looking to put new springs on her in the future thinking of skyjacker 2.5" or 4". Anyone here done this mod? May upgrade to 35" tires after leveling out the truck. Interested to see what others have for measurments to compare against and with what mods.

1992 w-250 4x4, 5speed, 3.54 rear

You 4X4 guys are lucky. You have aftermarket stuff available to help you all get up in the air. Unfortunately us 4X2 guys have nothing available but replacements, and if you own a dually like me you are better off looking for the needle. Cause the haystack would take a lot less time to look through, than find a aftermarket suspension part for a dually. I am so excited about these new springs, I hope they are really nice and this guys likes to make them. Bill
