Wierd, truck wouldn't start.....
Went to the bank, and when I went to leave my truck wouldn't start. I tried about 40 times to start it and nothing. So I call the dealer, and once he said I would need to tow it there, she turned over. I went straight home, turn the truck off and restarted her about 5 times without a hitch. The thing is that when she wouldn't start I didn't hear anything.
What should I look for, because it almost seems like a short somewhere, or something in the ignition. Any ideas?

If it's not turning over could be the starter solenoid, I went on a trip and we stopped at the grocery store on our way back and it wouldn't turn over when we go back. Called the tow truck and as he was pulling in it cranked. Guess because it got hot? Changed out the starter and never did it again.
I am going through the same thing, truck has lots of power but will not crank. Has done it about 3 times in the last 40 days. I finally had mine hauled in to the dealer, it sat there for about 3 days, and when they went to bring it in to look at it, it started right up.
Then they proceeded to test my charging system and tell me there was nothing wrong. I already knew the charging system was fine, and told them that when it was hauled in. All right no big deal I thought, until the dealer tried to stick me with a $80 bill for the work. I only have 51,000 km's on the truck, so this should be under warrenty right?
Ahhh, I have vented, feel so much better now. I will check the wire by the starter. Thanks

There is a resistance installed somewhere in the solenoid circuit. It reduces the voltage from 12v to 6 or 7 volts. Sometimes if bad (or spotty) the solenoid voltage will be so low it won't activate the starter solenoid.
I had to go into my fuse/relay box on my 2000 and jump 12 volts to the solenoid relay. I was only getting 3 volts to the solenoid and it would not pull the solenoid in.
I simply put a wire from 12 volts under the relay pin when I plugged the relay back in. It always started after that.
I never did determine why I was only getting 3 v to the solenoid relay.

I just checked that wire, and sure enough, it had rubbed through the plastic and was touching the wire against that metal bracket. Pushed it tight against the bracket and it wouldn't crank, pulled it away and no problem.
Unbelievable.
Thanks guys, the knowledge on this site never ceases to amaze me!

Here's the picture. You can see the yellow wire and the bracket right above it. All I did was push the wire down and out of the way....

.
Glad to hear you guys got it fixed!
I'm amazed at how many people have this same problem. I can see the trucks leaving the factory with this mistake, but why aren't the techs told to check/move that wire on every truck they see?
