It should be behind the passager side head lite , but the so in so's at the manufacturer want to make extra $$$ so its not uncomin to leve the cord out , and you have to go to the dealer and buy the cord , the heater is in the passager side of the block , so just wire tie it down , so as to not have to buy a new one when it gets caught in something spinning .

NO! Don't go to the dealer to buy the cord! It's about $40 there. You can get the same thing at any Cummins dealer. I've also seen posts that NAPA stores have 'em.

And it's not "uncommon" to leave it out. It's a $20 option. If it wasn't on the order sheet, then you don't have it.

This will give you the exact location. Just beside and to the rear of the oil filter... Post # 6.

Hey Dixie. the cord, if it did come with one, should be neatly tied up and mounted up along the rad in behind or beside the passenger side headlight. There should be some clips that you can retie it to in the "off " season. I will taking my cord and cutting it off and grafting it onto a solid mount plug in. l that I purchased from Kenworth. I have a custom front bumper and wil take a hole saw and make it a permanent mount right in the bumper, I'm in Western Canada and probably get more opportunity to utilize the block heater than you would in Louisiana.. I will be posting some pics of my truck in here soon and will include a photo of the blockheater cord refit. the plug in's are also available from Geno's Garage. Whom, by the way, have given me very good service to date.

This is a great post. Sorry if I am bringing it up from the archives but it is that time of year and I am sure I will not be the only one who needs to install one.

When I got my cord, at that time, Geno's had the best price.

It's $12.95 this morning. Takes moments to install. Our NAPA has them but doesn't have a part number reference. You can get the Fleetgaurd number and tell them that, and get it, but it will be about $64. Call Geno's and you'll have it in a few days.

Ya got that one right. In my opinion it should be standard equipment! Those tightwads charge an arm and a leg for these trucks and then pull this?! I bought my truck slightly used so I didnt see the build sheet but c'mon, my last truck was a 98 12v manual window reg cab and it even had one..... The longer I own this third gen the more I miss my ol trusty 12 valve
