u-connect

Is it possible to get all the parts that come with the factory u-connect from the dealer/parts website? I would like to have the u-connect but I want it like it comes from the factory. The truck is a '05.

They sell a kit for the can-bus Rams. The Dodge Ram does not have the wiring under the dash to plug and play that is why you need the additional harness. This kit gives you the factory Uconnect with the factory mirror etc.. Here is the link:http://www.moparsupercenter.com/fact...r.html?cat=102. I wish they had this for the 2003 and 2004 Ram.

Mopar Super Center charges $576.12 for the kit. You can get the parts I listed above for less than $450 from a dodge parts website. I would like to know if those are the parts that I would need for a '05 truck.

kbl knows what they're talking about. I have all but given up and I haven't been trying nearly as long. I helped a guy with an '06, but haven't got the pre Can-Bus to work yet.

I love the Uconnect in my truck. I think it works fantastic. The sound quality on both ends is very good, the voice recognition works very well, and i have never had the bluetooth part of it disconnect to my phone by accident. It is definately one of my favorite features.

You can get the individual parts you are talking about but YOU NEED the wiring harness to connect all the parts. The Dodge Ram has four or five different wiring harnesses under the dash depending on the options that were ordered with the truck. If the truck did not come from the factory with Uconnect it DOES NOT have the wiring under the dash to plug the module into or the wiring running from the module to the mirror or the wiring from the module to the radio. If you think you can just order the mirror, module, and the mirror wiring harness you will be stuck with a bunch of parts that will not work. The harness that you list only goes from the mirror to a harness in the driver side pillar which is NOT THERE if the truck did not come from the factory with Uconnect. The harness on the mopar site makes it plug and play. I am in no way connected with the mopar site but I know first hand what they when through to get this to work. I have spent several thousands to try and get this to work on my 2004 so $576.12 sounds like peanuts to me considering the time they spent making up a harness that actually works.
