U Connect
U Connect
I just had the "U-Connect" wireless phone system installed in my 2003 2500. It was the dealer's first installation (of course they screwed it up >
). I got in touch with the manufacturer and they made a trip out to the dealer and had it installed correctly. This is the coolest feature in the truck next to the CTD.

Re:U Connect
I was going to put this in my truck UNTIL I tried to find a compatible ("Bluetooth"
phone - all of 1 or 2, which were too big & gimmicky for me. Amusing since I am already using their "preferred carrier"! I went with a Techno Rover hands free kit - only cost about $40 at the local CompUSA store.

Now, if they bring out "basic" phones w/ Bluetooth, I'm there! ;D

Re:U Connect
AT&T will give you a "free" Nokia 3650 with new service. This combination is incredible. With U-Connect I can merely speak the number I want to dial and it dials I have had zero problems. You can also preset 32 numbers that you can activate with a single word. Everyone I have shown this thing to wants one.
Re:U Connect
Gordonville,
This is something I will be interested in when I upgrade my phone through AT&T. I think I saw on another of your posts that you purchased your truck in McKinney. Is this the dealer that did the install? Just wondering, so if I have mine done I know they have been there, done that.
Thanks
Re:U Connect
Hotdram,

McKinney Dodge did the install. I was their guinea pig. They should have it down now. The U-Connect manufacturer's VP of sales came out to help when they could'nt get mine to work. It was a simple connection.

You can't compare this system to the typical hands-free. You just get in the truck with your Bluetooth phone and it's connected. No cradle or antenna hook-up. The system understands voice commands so there is no drifting into lanes while trying to dial your phone. I don't know how many times my phone bounced out of the cradle in my previous Dodge Ram.

Let me know if you have any questions. I paid $299 for the unit and $67 for installation. Expensive, but to me it's worth the money.
Re:U Connect
Gordonville,
Thanks for the info. I have had nothing but good experiences with the McKinney dealership (sales and service). I started taking my previous Dodge there for service and when it was time to get rid of it, I bought my '02 from them, mostly because of their service department.
