Boost installation---where does it connect

I struggled with this last night for entirely too long.....
I can not seem to find where to insert the 1/8 npt fitting for the boost gauge.

All the information that I can find is on 2002 & newer stating that there is a 3/4" plug with a 3/8" square in the middle that you can remove with a socket wrench. This is indeed true on a 2002.

Now, with that said -- where in the world do you put it on a 2004. This is not the 600hp motor either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mike

Remove the intercooler boot from the intake horn, then drill and tap the base of the intake for 1/8NPT. Clean out any shavings, re-attach the boot, and install your fitting.

that plug doesn't exist on the 3rd gen trucks... if you want something real easy, go to piersdiesel.com and get their # and order a boost bolt [they have it on sale right now in their august deals for $10]

or remove the intake horn, drill & tap it, and reinstall it...

I tapped mine in with a tee and some short pieces of hose right at the wastegate actuator worked perfect for 14 months so far

If you dont want to wait for someone to ship a boost bolt to you, try calling around to some of your local performance diesel/off road shops (if you have any around you). The boost bolt is a good way to go because its giving you the actual pressure inside the motor. I was headed down the path of using the tee fitting like VERNL suggested, but i couldnt get the right size fittings locally without ordering them.

Thanks to everyone--I went with Tom488's advice and tapped the intake horn.

It wasn't bad--it took me 30minutes to do. I have the patience of a 3year old and couldn't wait 2-3 more days to get everything hooked up and done.

Thanks for all your help.

I held a shop vac up to the air horn when drilling, not wise to chance a chip going into the motor
