TSB's for 2005 - Have you had these done?
TSB's for 2005 - Have you had these done?
Getting ready to take my truck down for warranty work before I reach 36K. I got these TSB's below from AK RAM (thanks AK RAM!). Have any of you guys had these done? Any reason not to have them done? I don't have a regular surge (a few times at start when very cold out) but I am not sure if I should have that one done? Also, what about chirp at shut down? Dealer says there is no damage caused by chirp and not really necessary unless chirp bothers me. Dealer says AC odor NOT covered. True??
Which of these are MUST do's and which are optional. I would hate to not have some of these done and later have the problem and be out of warranty. Also, don't always like dealer fooling with everything either.
Thanks!!
Here are some of the more prominent TSB's for 2005 trucks:
TSB 18-022-06, Flash: 5.9L Turbo-Diesel Engine System Enhancements. This is a big one….major ECM software update. The new software includes:
1) Improved engine cooling (radiator fan activation) and prevention of possible engine overheat. When coolant temperature faults are present the radiator fan is enabled (turned on) during vehicle operation.
2) Correction to oil pressure reading when engine is operating at higher engine temperatures above 91°C (195°F).
3) Improvement to the Temperature Sensor Rationality Test to prevent possible false test failures and their following related Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's):
a. DTC P0071 - Inlet Air Temperature Sensor Rationality.
b. DTC P0111 - Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor Rationality.
c. DTC P0514 - Battery Temperature Sensor Rationality.
4) Additional Water-in-Fuel (WIF) warning added to indicate that the operator has had a WIF DTC P2269 and has continued to operate (drive) the vehicle in excess of 500 miles without draining the water from the fuel filter. The following is the new WIF DTC that has been added:
a. DTC P0169 - WIF Too Long Error
TSB 14-003-05, Musty Odor from AC System. If you have a musty odor when you initially turn on your AC system, this TSB involves running a bottle of cleaner through the cooling coil, then a bottle of "coating", then installing two filters in the air track.
TSB 14-004-05, Electronic Fuel Control (EFC) Actuator. This TSB is for slight engine surge at idle. If you have some, the dealer has a slew of verifying checks to make, and if everything else checks out (the rest of your fuel system), they will replace the actuator on the back of the CP3 injection pump.

Well one thing about the Re flash.. If you have it done you will get the annoying reverse Honking alarm!!!!...
Also check your door seals right above the side mirrors to see if they are torn.. If they are there is a TSB and a new part number to fix this and keep them from being torn..

Dealer told me DC will NOT pay this TSB as he has tried before.
I've heard from 2 dealer guys to try this:
spray lysol at intake (vent near ww wipers) while air is running (switch to fresh air intake). After a few sprays and running system for about 15 minutes all is supposed to be well.
I may try it if dealer will not cover repair.

Another trick you can try for the musty order is spray Simple Green or Febreeze into the air intake where the wipers are.
Then let the truck idle for about ten minutes with the fresh air on and fan on med.
Iv done this on both my own truck and the truck I used to drive at work.
Worked great for me.

What if I have complained at one dealer and now am living in another area will they have a record of it? I really need to fix this battery temp bull I just got a po111 and a po514 the 514 is pretty common for me but the po111 was the first I know of. Is this work covered under the engine warr or just overall warr. Thanks Joe
