Had TSB 18-037-04 Done Today

Well per your advice I took the CTD in and had the TSB done for the white smoke, over head milage accuracy, and fuel milage. It took about 45 minutes and the best part is I did not have to pay anything. After they finished up putting the update stickers on I took it for a ride and to my suprise I was getting 3 miles per gallon better fuel milage on the overhead. I used to get about 18 driving 60 and 17 driving 70. It was a short run and the overhear read 20.8 and 19.8. My overhead has never seen a 20 in it until now. I hope that Dodge is not messing with my little pea brain and having the overhead read 2 to 3 miles per gallon better than hand calc. numbers. This was the milage I was expecting when I bought this truck. I won't be going on any long trips until Christmas so we'll see what happens!!!

Thats what I was afraid of. I guess it is all perception. If the overhead is telling you 20mpg well that just makes ya feel better.

Computer MPG

I hope yours is really fixed. I would be questioning if I really got the flash jumpinj. Thats what scares me about dealers I haven't had work done on my trucks since 98 at a dealer. I take that back I asked them to set my idle up a little on my 97 so it would start right and had to show them why. New diesel tech. Since my 04 is out of warranty I suppose I'll ge to pay for it. My over head reads 18+ all the time pulling a 5,000 trailer would be nice but doesn't show that on hand calc.

I got the same results.

Just have to subtract 1.5 mpg's from what it says.

It is better in the sense it's alot more stable. Doesn't jump all over like it did before the re-flash.

Also, the truck shifts alot smoother since then too.

My overhead was about 1mpg low versus hand calculated before the TSB Flash. After the TSB it read about 2mpg higher than hand calculated. I only use the overhead as a reference for general mileage performance. With my current triple stack of performance products I see 21-22mpg on the overhead, of course now it is about 4mpg high. But at least the TSB did provide the Manual High Idle and I love that.

Mpg's

04 3500 swr.. 4;10 rear with 6 speed with 35'" toyos 6" lift with centry hard cover also banks 6 gun with speed loaderw/max air intake..4" exhaust turbo to tip. str8 all the way

here are my best numbers.. 22.5@60 1850rpm around town avg, solid 19mpg.. my onboard computer is kinda accurate.. i check it all the time with my trusty calculator.. maybe 1mpg off now and then.. i know it's working well with tach and overhead, after my buddy plugged me in to "reset" my tire size....now, downhill at 60mph it says 49.5mpg... of course it does..my fuel and coasting..wow wouldn't that be a killer mpg to have..

Thanks for the info. My truck shifted pretty smooth beore I took it in and the only thing I noticed is that it shifts into 3rd a little sooner (around 38mph instead of 42mph). It shifts into 4th at the same 48mph as before. I thought maybe they would lower these set points a little so you could get a higher gear while driving through the city. Now you have to do 38 in a 35 and 48 in a 45 before you get the next gear. Guess I should a went with a standard trans.!!
As far as my over head it was always with in 1mpg on long trips. When I drive in town all day that is when it gets off more.
I mainly took it in for the white smoke and fuel milage increase.

This is supposed to be the "new and improved" TSB 18-037-04, correct?? When I went to get the TSB done a year ago January, they said I already had the updated program installed. I still don't know how that could be. Never had been for service of anykind and the serial number is exactly in the middle of the pack. My overhead has always read 1-2mpg low.

they might have told you that if they had not updated their updater, I had to wit for them to d load the new program to their tool, then they could put it into my truck, good thing I was there to walk them through it dorkweeed, I would possibly try another dealer/ shop to see if ya get any better results.
