Truck's in the shop - AGAIN
Dont think Toyota or the other inports will be the cure. I got caught up in the Toyota HYPE. Bought a 04 Seinna Van, prior was a Dodge Cavaran and not sure I made the correct choice. First year and 12000 miles went through arbriation (waste of time) on alum rims which devoleped spider web corrision on all the rims, denied any consideration. Cost the company more time and expense flying Arbriator to remote area than to replace the rims!!!! Also had many other repairs performed, radiator replaced, heater blower motor, repeat sliding door squeaks/rattle (Oh yea, wipe/spray seal and goes away!!!OK) Its quite a surprise to read Toyota general forums and then review the recall/problem forums. IMO there is so much brand loyality, when the surveys come out they dont complain. Also some complaints were erased from the final repair order on various occasions (Service stated some were inhouse repairs, N|Cost to toyota, therefore removed on repair order) (how are the figures/repairs records generated for the national registers????) Not to say the Toyota doesnt have some great qualities, they do, but not all is perfect as the magazines and consumers lead you to believe.
My 04 truck was a duramax (never liked the truck or the trans and couldn't wait to get rid of it) My first ctd was a 04.5. My next truck was a 05 ford. (hated the truck from day one). My 06 is another ctd. As you can see I have been full circle. What I can tell you is the ctd is by far the best diesel motor period. I think that the 06 dodge is one of the best trucks dodge has built to date. Buy it, drive it, enjoy it.
Be glad you have a CTD...Check out the problems with this '06 Dmax...

having same problems with my 06 3500 CTD now has 59k purchased with 76 miles in november 05 have been to the shop numerous times 1st trans at 54k and now 2nd trans at 59k what gives with these guys? talked with atty gen about lemon law. long tedious process. i guess im sol really disappointed with DC also leaking rear window and leaking roof. replace computer board for trailer lights to work. i already have over 10k in repairs out of my pocket because these people only give 36k warranty. really looks like they stand behind their product now. super disappointed with DC taking the hit and trading out asap. good luck everyone else. i am now the biggest opponent against DC they have done nothing to please me but take more $
Here I go again. The last attempt by this dealer to find what is causing my knock/rattle and 7-11mpg? Getting close to Lemon Lawing this thing. Will try to find another dealer with a squared away tech. I hope you guys are happier now with your 06's than I am. Later.
Wow,
I just read Maines LL... it states fifteen days out of service. and fifteen business days (days that the service dept are open ) to fix it.....
Guys are making me nervous waiting on my new rig... Comeing over from a 2000 ford with a 7.8 and 200,000 flawless miles on it....

Fellas, all the good luck OTHERS are having with their Dodges and all the bad luck others are having with the other brands IS MEANINGLESS.
I *hate* it when people post things like "my dodge is perfect" in response to someone having a problem! Like *THAT* makes the problem any better??
Moreover, the bad luck others have with Fords and Chevs doesn't ease the pain of having Dodge problems!
**HELP HIM FIX THE PROBLEM, DON'T OFFER POINTLESS REFERENCES TO OTHER PEOPLE**
As far as I'm concerned, offer our friend either 1) advice to help fix his truck, or 2) How to pursue Lemon Law coverage and get into another truck.
