Dealer not helpful at all! I was happy with the purchase of the truck but that's it. I'm staying quiet to see if they hit 30 days. They called the day after I dropped it off and said they tried flashing the TSB and it would not hold memory and then died. ECM dead and they could not find one. On backorder until?? I asked to get a truck, they said they can't loan out trucks. I have been driving a Sebring! Can you believe that? This is the first time that I have started doubting my decision. I have only been driving a Cummins for 2 plus years but feel without a question it will last the longest of the big 3. Do you guys know if this ECM thing could become a chronic problem that affects everything else. Would it fall under the Cummins 100k warranty. Like I said I am playing dumb with the dealer so the 30 day Lemon Law thing could be an option. Thanks a bunch for all the replies. Very stressful time for me now. Have a good one.

I just picked my 06 up yesterday and took it back today. The darn thing wouldn't go into park, it got hung up in reverse. I regret every minute of buying that hunk of cr*p. This is the 3rd time in two weeks it's been in the shop and I'm seeking an Attorney. The Lemon is sure looking bigger now. It seems like the 06's are having some real issues. Pretty bad a tech tells me today they have been getting alot of vehicles comin in with problems on all these brand new vehicles, glad I had a witness with me to hear that. Again Lemon's make you sour about a product. I don't even want a replacement vehicle back if it come's to the Lemon Law, give me my money back and I'll go to another brand. George Strait doesn't have any complaints about his Duramax pulling his horses around.

Just went down to the dealer today to get my uniforms out of my truck. I was standing there and a guy and his wife comes in. This guy has an 06 dodge CTD. Boy they were ******. They had their check engine light on, had it in the dealership last week to get it fixed and now the check engine light is back on. Something needs to be done about the 06's. I thought, too, I was getting the best truck. Boy, I was mistaken.

Sorry to hear about the bad luck with your trucks, However the lemon laws does work because i had to bring that into action one time about 9 years ago when i purchased a brand new 98 dogdge dakota extended cab v8 4x4. The truck was a piece of Junk, there was some type of problem with the exhaust system, it would backfire insanely loud when i would let off the gas, brought it to the dealer where i purchased it and they try to fix it three times unsuccesfully. After the thrird time they tried to fix it, i took it back told them it was still doing the same thing and i was able to recieve back the full amount i paid for the truck and that was that. I took the money and went and bought a 98 toytoa tacoma

My '05 has had the dreaded (#0514 - Batt Temp. Sensor) Check engine light come on 3-4x already in one year.

The answer the dealer gave me was that STAR has told them there is NO fix at this time. I was told to just drive it and if light comes just continue to drive and bring in when convenient for dealer to reset light. I asked what would happen if while the check engine light was on for #0514 and something else occured on engine but I would not know it (because light is already on) and could damage engine?? They stated that if light is NOT flashing it was OK to continue to drive.

So, can a truck be Lemon Law'ed for the check engine light coming on 3-4X in one year for same reason? The dealer has been fair so far and I would not like to create any anymosity with them over this, but I am concerned that this check engine light issue is going to stay with the truck forever.

Didn't mean to hijack your thread but since you are facing a possible LL, I thought my experience would help your cause.

Baja- he's a breakdown of the lemon law in CA:
A special provision, often called the "Lemon Law," helps determine what is a reasonable number of repair attempts for problems that substantially impair the use, value, or safety of the vehicle. The "Lemon Law" applies to these problems if they arise during the first 18 months after the consumer received delivery of the vehicle or within the first 18,000 miles on the odometer, whichever occurs first. During the first 18 months or 18,000 miles, the "Lemon Law" presumes that a manufacturer has had a reasonable number of attempts to repair the vehicle if either (1) The same problem results in a condition that is likely to cause death or serious bodily injury if the vehicle is driven and the problem has been subject to repair two or more times by the manufacturer or its agents, and the buyer or lessee has at least once directly notified the manufacturer of the need for the repair of the problem as provided in the warranty or owner's manual or (2) The same problem has been subject to repair four or more times by the manufacturer or its agents and the buyer has at least once directly notified the manufacturer of the need for the repair of the problem as provided in the warranty or owner's manual or (3) The vehicle is out of service because of the repair of any number of problems by the manufacturer or its agents for a cumulative total of more than 30 days since delivery of the vehicle.

When I had my 98 Ram and four failed injector pumps in less then 7,000 kilometers [one of the first VP44 24 valves], I was enlightened that there is no Lemon Law and I was unable to take it to arbitration because I was registered as a commercial vehicle. Thats up here in Canada...I was in Alberta. Fine print came at me from many different angles when I mentioned I wanted the truck bought back.
That is when Cummins [Indiana] contacted me via email and we worked together on a problem DC knew about. Then, I get this $1,000.00 MOPAR voucher from the dealer I bought from that was given to me by the DC rep that was smirking when he said I could not arbitrate. Guilt stricken maybe?

Thanks again for the replies guys. Tomorrow is day 25 in a row without having my truck. I'm am starting to lean towards the LL pursuit. You have to admit it is ridiculous! The flash was the first thing they tried when I brought my truck in. It wasn't even the main issue I was having. I was having a 65mph light shaking and my reverse lights went out and my fan was making a screeching noise first start up in the am. Think Lemon Law is a guarantee for me?? Thanks again fellas. You guys rock.

I have owned all three they all have good engines until the big 3 get there hands on them Isuzu International and cummins all make good long lasting dependable engines but if the the big three didnt jack with them before they put them in there trucks all there disel techs will be llike the Maytag man ! My powerstroke was in the shop for 3 weeks after it was in my hands for 5 days and then back in 10 more times for the same problem until I said keep it and a engineer came from International he had it for 3 hrs and it never had another problem and ran like a spanked monkey Durmax allison went out x2 then the Injector leak in the crankcase and the big one the front drive shaft (4x4) came up thru the floor board and out the roof and Ford has had I think the shortiest lived engine 6.0 2 yrs and now its gone to scrap pile now they start over with a new box of worms so we will see how there new engine gos We run 32 Ambulances all Fords so we will put that new little 5.8 to the test !!!!!!!

For all you people that think you just purchased a dodge piece of crap. Go over to the duramax forums and check out there probs with there injectors. It appears that the injector tips are breaking off and going down in the cylinders. I know a person this happened to locally. The gm rep told the service guy not to pull the head to see if there was any damage to the cylinder. He told them to check the compression and it was within speck. So they put one new injector in and sent him down the road. They still do not know were the tip went. So before you get all huffy and want to jump ship. It isn't any better on the other side of the fence.

guys, I know you spent a crap load on your trucks and are Edit, but crap happens! I bought a 2000 Ram 1500 that was a pile of crap to say the least. Stuff breaks, trust me, but ya know, let them at least try and fix the problem first. I know you are Edit, and everyone one here now will be in the "06's are crap mood" but I can garantee there is 1000+ for ever 1 person driving around an 06 that is loving it and hasnt had any major issue with it. If DC cant get you taken care of in a reasonable time, the pursue the legal action. Just because it has a few issues out the gate, its not a pile of crap. You also bought a first run of new electronics, body, interior and a few other items that are all NEW, so unfortunately, there will be a few bugs.

I think we can thank the idiots in DC for all the gov.regs that are forcing dodge ,ford and gm to use unproven technoligy to sell this crap to the public and .I dont think any one of the big 3 want this on there name. its forced them to push the envelope past reliable.my first gen never has seen the dealers shop since new!

Remember "keep it simple stupid" less to break!

I bought my 06 dodge after my duramax was bought back it would overheat every time I put a load on it so I loaded this dodge down heavy at 300 miles and it's proven to be one strong workhorse

Toyota Diesels

I'm hanging on to my 93 D350, until the heavy duty Toyota diesels come out. Looks like the Japanese will crush the domestics on trucks just as they did on cars due to quality issues. I'm not willing to pay $40K or thereabouts to have to deal with issues such as these.
