Tire question
I have an '06 CTD 2wd truck. It is a lease truck and in just a few months will be turned in. I have 16k on the clock and it has the original Michelin tires with the same mileage on them.
I remember seeing or reading something about these tires being replaced somehow due to all the spiderweb cracks in the sidewalls. Can anyone tell me if this is true or just urban legend?
I'd sure hate to pony up a new set of tires due to this at turn in time with such little mileage on them.
Thanks alot.

A few members here did have the Michelins replaced due to cracking in the sidewalls. Stop by the local tire dealer that handles Michelins or call Michelin direct.

All 4 on my 07 were replaced for free since they had the cracks from day one from the dealer.
Big O tires called michelin and got a claim # or something and changed me out for some goodyears.

If you are turning in the truck then don't worry about it. if they have issue it will be with michelin not you along as you are under mileage. If you are keeping the truck phone michelin first and get a claim number then go to a tire dealer. I was told by one tire dealer there is no problem, second dealer didn't really want to change either, (with claim number), until I asked him if he would feel safe driving with family and pulling 10K lbs with those tires? New tires installed next day.

GreyTD, I was kind of thinking of the same thing. It will gleefully with joy and excitement, be handed back to them in 3 more months. I just did not want to get hit at the last minute with a charge to replace all 4 tires due to this problem with Michelin tires that only will have 16k on them from day one.

If they look at your tires and tell you they need replacement they will charge you for them. They won't care if they can be replaced under warranty or not. They'll ding you for everything. I'd have them changed out before you go back.

I don't know about US terms, but unless he has excessive wear (burnouts, smoke shows ); normal wear and tear within the lease mileage agreement is included. Check with your lease agent now so no surprises later. i've never replaced tires on lease vehicles.
