Tire help.......Toyo Open Country A/T?

I'm looking at purchasing the Toyo Open Country A/T's but not sure what size. Don't know if I should go 265/70/17 or step up to the 285/70/17's need to know how it will affect miliage, handling, etc... by going to the bigger tire. Any input good or bad please. And if anyone would have pics of this tire on their truck please post so I could see what they would look like.

Thanks

I have the 285 75R17s. They are one of the best tires I've ever had except in the wear department. They are wearing faster than I'd like but they are great in the dirt and snow, great on road, and they're very quiet. Dropped the RPMs by about 200 at 70 MPH.

I had the 265's on my 06 and as soon as they were installed I wished I would have went with the 285's! I've run several sets of Toyo AT in the past and they have always been a smooth riding tire with decent wear.

Im another vote for 285/75/17s. Best all around tire size for our trucks, imo. Not to hard on the steering components....look better than the stock size...improve mileage a little with less rpms....but don't work the truck to hard to tow comfortably. Im happy with my Nitto Terra Grapplers.

What is goingto be the difference between the 285/70/17 and the 285/75/17? And is that 285/75/17 on the stock rims? Any issues with towing or loads with 285/75 I tow a toy hauler camper?

The 285/75/17s are a little taller at like 34'', but (I believe) the same width as the 70s. Lots of guys, including me, run these tires on stock rims.....and tow.

There was a thread on this about a month or two ago somewhere on this site that many said they were going to go back to the stock 265/70/17 size for better fuel mileage. Something to do with even though its a taller tire its a little wider so you actually lose fuel mileage due to the friction and bite of the larger tire to road contact.

I have to agree with 00Dog . . . I love everything but the wear. I've been running 60 psi front and 50 rear. I've even had the front-end aligned twice in the last 15,000 miles. I'll be lucky to get 25,000 out of this set.

I run 315/70 that measure 33" and drop the rpm 10%. No issues with towing and can drop to 5th without raising the RPM too much if needed (NV5600 is a bit taller than the G56). They do rub on the control arms at lock but really isn't a problem.

265's are too small IMO. I like the look of a full wheel well and the wider tread pattern.
