Stock Hood 2006
My wonderful wife is getting me a SRT Hood for Christmas and I was wondering what others did with their stock hood.... Mine is in pristine shape (silver) and I really do not want it hanging around the garage collecting dust and getting in the way... Ideas?

Or the more realistic thing to do would be to list it and sell it on craigslist.com for a local sale (no shipping).

I have the same issue, my original hood is in the SRT-10 hood box. Sitting on the back porch, waiting for the hood fairy. It would cost more than the hood is worth to ship it anywhere for a private sale. I'm going to try the craigslist thing, probably list it for $150 and take $125 for it.

just wondering why you're going with the srt hood instead of a functional ram air hood that sells for similar $$$. nadp uses a suncoast hood for many of the trucks they work up and it looks great and funnels air directly to aftermarket intake.

I may be wrong but, I don't believe any aftermarket ram air hoods are functional on our trucks. There's literally no room for duct work.

They sure do, 2 types, Viper style and Extractor style, like this one:

I sold my OEM hood for $200.00

Lucky guy. My wife did the same thing for me on my 30th this year. I had no idea though, it really surprised me.
My stock hood is in the SRT10 box in my garage still. Haven't had any luck selling it yet.
Make sure you get pics up when its on.

I would call a few junkyards looking for hoods for my 06 then price it at that or lower than that. It is probably in much better shape, so someone with a need for a hood might jump on it. Maybe the classifieds here, also?

Chipmonk... I like the SRT Hood for the appearance. It just winds my clock and fits into what I envision my truck to look like when completed...
I wanted a steel hood as well.
Thanks all for the help...

My local dealership just gives them away for free, they do a tonne of SRT hoods and have a stack of them out back next to their garbage dumpsters...
