Lexol leather cleaner and condtiioner has always done me well. Amazing the dirt it removes from the wheel when I use it. Apply it about every month or so. Also keep a towel in the car to cover the wheel when I park in the sun. Helps keep it from drying out. No problems at 1 yr and 26k miles. Steering wheel still looks like new.

Get it replaced...it's under warranty. On my '03 I had the same problem at the 10-o'clock position only and it was replaced. New wheel was OK. Dodge must expect people to put their hands on the steering wheel when driving, so 'normal wear and tear' is a BS excuse.

$400 bucks. The ONLY things wear and tear are tires, clutch DISCS(the plate and bearings/throwout and pilot are covered!)Brake pads, bulbs are SUPPOSE to be 12/12 but I ran them under warranty for the 3/36 with NEVER one kicking back.Wiper blades are 12/12.Interior etc is 3/36 except like bad mud etc.But WORN fabric etc is 3/36.I think you get my drift.NO were is there a wording from D.C.about other items being WORN like a steering wheel. The decent reps would NEVER kick a claim back like that.

Mine has done it too..................
A lot of it has to do with "Diesel Fuel" itself. You fill up, move your truck out of the diesel lane, and then go wash your hands when you pay.
I avoided this problem for the longest time, but one day I had a truck waiting behind me and I just Jumped right into my truck, gloves and all, to move it. Boy did I regret it later that day when the peeling first started!!!
Mine's not that bad, but I do know it could be a lot lot worse if I didn't keep that pair of gloves behind my seat that I use for fueling my truck only!

I wonder if any of the companies that make steering wheel covers would offer them at a discount, through the DTR gift shop, that would send some $$ to Jack, after a sale, to offset his expenses. With these replies, they might sell quite a few of them. Me included before I have an issue with mine.

crap. mine has 45k on it, bought jan 04.
has anyone tried sanding the orange peel down & re dye ing it?
mine is barely noticable, like some 1000 grit could smooth it back out.

I bought my truck w/ 60k on it and I put on 5k miles as of yet. I have a very very small speck peeling on the back of my wheel. I plan on buying a dodge cover for it anyways.

well I tookit in to the dealer for the wheel and a few other things. To make a long story short I will NEVER go back to this dealer again. They claim the peeling on the wheel is a "blemish" (just not bad enuff to replace), they could only maange to fix the binding on one power window (I showed them the TSB), told me they could void my entire warranty b/c of the tires, and then when i picked it up there was mud all over the back side of the bed behind the passengers tire.
After arguing w/ them over the phone for an entire I decided to forget and just never go back. I would sorta like to know how to contact their corporate rep........STAR I think Ive heard you guys say????
I dont mind their stupidity so much, but the fact that their was mud on it is nuts.....it hasnt rained here in over a week so there arent alot of puddles around
