What exactly does the snow plow prep option give you?

TIA

Re:Snow Plow Prep?

Don't think it is available on the diesel. HEMI would get ya skid plates, different springs, and probably heavy duty cooling. Do a search on plow prep or snow plow. We went through this a while back. Some people were screaming because they paid for a plow prep on a diesel and it was money for nothing.

Re:Snow Plow Prep?

What Spots said....

My 3500 HO weighs 4800 on the front axle;

The front axle is rated for 5200;

DC will not support a snow plow on a diesel - go figure!

I'd have thought they could offer heavier springs/shocks, etc, BUT NOOO.....

Oh well; I probably wouldn't have put on a plow anyway. :

Re:Snow Plow Prep?

Wait a sec... Every 2500 with the HO Cummins I've seen on the dealer lots around here have the snow plow prep group. Are y'all saying even though DC has it as an option, you can't attach a plow to it?

TIA

Re:Snow Plow Prep?

From what I remember you can PAY for the plow prep but you don't get anything for it. Mebbe a skid plate. I also thought that snow plow prep on the late '03's was on hold. CumminsLuke is a dealer. He might know. PM him.

Re:Snow Plow Prep?

I ordered it on my 3500 CTD and it is on the sticker. DC certainly better not void my warranty for adding a snow plow when they were willing to take my $80 for it. (Although I got the dealer to refund the amount because they couldn't tell me what it actually added since I already had the skid protection).

Re:Snow Plow Prep?

I did a search for the snow plow group and I can't find anything about it other then possiably stiffer front springs. I'd really like to know what it gives. I'd also like to know if Dodge would void a warrenty because of a plow whether it had the snow plow prep or not.

Re:Snow Plow Prep?

The snow plow prep adds nothing if you already have the protection group. It doesn't add stiffer springs, AFAIK. It was an option that should not have been allowed with certain other options but it was.

I find it EXTREMELY unlikely that Dodge would even attempt to void your warranty with the words "Snow Plow Prep" on your sticker. They would certainly lose any appearance in court.
