Not so sure the Goo Gone and lacquer thinner are a good idea. They will dissolve your clear coat. I used Goo Gone on my trailer to remove some permanent marker that had sat for a few years from the old man I bought it from, and it pulled the clear right off that sucker.

Thats the one thing i should have used.... I'm kinda glad the line kept snapping as often as it did. Gave my fingers a rest...

I've never had a problem using goo gone on a painted surface. I did however try it on a section of the truck that i'm having body work done on next week, just in case...
GOOF OFF on the other hand.... oopsy... Yeah not so good fo yo paint...

No problems here either. Of course, i didn't let it sit on there very long either. Applied to towel, used it and washed it..

i removed the tail gate and door dealer badges but left the cummins and ram logos alone, couple days later some moron decides to tear off the two cummins 2500 logos on the sides. Some of us dont want them on there but others steal them for theirs.

Same thing happened to me years ago with my old half ton. They snagged the door badges off everyones vehicle on the block. ..

It's a "PRICEY" badge you know. I almost left mine on but figured "they" would get the hint

Debadging

I removed the badges from my white 03 and it looks great. I used 30 lb monofilament to remove the characters, the 3M striping wheel 07498 to remove the foam and adhesive, and 91% isopropyl alcohol for final cleanup.

I had some grime build up around the characters so I used RainDance No 7 white polishing compound to clean up the outlines. I realize white is one of the more forgiving colors but I can't see any color fading after 7 years of the badges being on. The vehicle looks so much cleaner without the blocky chrome lettering cluttering up the sheet metal.
