share your debadging tips

I am curious if anyone has found any better solvent for the NASA-spec badge ahesive Dodge uses? I took off the badges with fishing line and a heat gun and then sprayed the remaining adhesive with PB blaster a bunch of times and let it soak overnight, it made it much easier to peel off. still required some effort to get all of it off. I read not to use lacquer thinner, but it worked pretty well to get the adhesive off that was left over after I got the black stuff off.

once the paint was clean, I applied 3M machine polish with a Craftsman random orbital buffer and then applied Migliore carnauba wax. tailgate looks awesome, doors look excellent but the area that said RAM 3500 is a little lighter under where the letters were, hoping it will even out once the sun hits it.

this adhesive is some nasty stuff and I am glad I don't have to deal with it again for quite some time. everything is gone but the Cummins logos on the fenders. pics shortly...

so you are saying I should have posted this beforehand?

I'll get pics when I install my OEM billet grille.

I used duct tape, roll it sticky side out around your hand and just tap at the adhesive, pulls it off with no solvent required, just keep using a fresh side and tap away.....

X2 on the eraser pad - My local NAPA was out of stock with the 3M brand, but had a no-name for about $13. I took a couple of mine off yesterday to install ATS fender flares.

Fishing line and 3M eraser wheel is the best by far. I tried several methods when doing my truck and I'm in work on a write-up comparing all of them.

Another vote for the eraser wheel to get the glue off. Heat gun and a plastic scrapper to get the badges off. Here's a pic of my latest.

Ditto!

That's how I debadged mine. Only one little sliver of paint got buggered up...it's hard to see, so I'm not worried.

I used fishing line to get the badge off then acetone and a rag to get the rest off, worked awsome.

I used 30 lb monofilament and 3M Adhesive remover, came in a spray can. Worked great for me.

thanks for the info.

i will be doing some debadging this weekend on the '06. all but the Cummins badges and the ram on the tailgate will be gone.
i will give the acetone a try. for years i had used Gumout carb cleaner to remove decals & bumper stickers off of older vehicles. not sure what it would do to the emblem adhesive or the clear coat
