Smile Gained 3 mpg!!!! Good tips to share

Hey guys, I wanted to share how I gained 3 mpg with simple mods and needed maintenance. I was getting 14.4 mpg, now I'm getting 17.4 city.

First, My fuel pressure was low 11.5 idle, 8-9 cruising, 4-5 wide open. So, I replaced the lift pump. Now 15.5-16 idle, 13 cruising 9-10 wot.

Second, Installed new banjo bolt kit from Geno's on the fuel lines (Had to remove them anyway).

Third, I run 285/75/16 tires, the front air pressure had 51 lbs each, the back had 48 and 30lbs. I increased all the air pressure to 65lbs.

Fourth, I took out the air temp sensor and cleaned it with carb cleaner ( it wasn't real dirty) then re-installed.

WOW!!!! what a difference. The torque converter stays locked longer and has a lot more power!!!

I drove it a little over 60 miles city and highway combined and 3 mpg is the least gain. I think now I'm getting 19 mpg highway, need to confirm.

I'm waiting for my 4" turbo back exhaust from Warp Speed. I keep ya'll posted how it turns out.

It's located on the head, on the driver side near the firewall. Here's a good link. Just copy and paste it in the address bar.

They say that the chips increase the mpg. That is, if you drive it like you always did before, which you probley wont.

Guys I'm still getting 17.1-17.4 city driving!!!! Also today, I pulled my New Holland Skid Steer weighing about 6200# plus trailer 1800==8,000 lbs, it still got 14 mpg!!!

Today, my 4" exhaust came in the mail from Warp Speed. I installed it less than 2 hours. Very Impressed!!! Very quick spool, reminds me of my 93 CTD straight piped with the dump truck sound. I don't know mpg data yet, I'll keep ya'll posted.

I'm very happy!!!

It may or may not have helped, I replaced them while I replacing the lift pump. It may help a little by suppling adequate fuel volume.

Because, yes, more fuel in the engine means better fuel economy.
