I need a new hood for my truck. There is some paint damage and I was quoted $550 to have it completely repainted.

I then found a few used hoods, which are cheaper than the re-paint.

What year(s) will fit? 2003-2007?

Are the hoods that came on the 1500, 2500, and 3500 series all the same?

 

I have a 2007 and replaced mine with a srt 10 hood and I believe those are a half-ton truck.

 

well, I can't say for sure, so to be conservative I would look at the 03-05 hoods for your 04. The sheetmetal is the same for all the trucks (1500,2500,etc) so that shouldn't be an issue, I don't think they changed the interface at the fender line or the grille for the 06-08 configuration, but if you can find one of the early 3rd gen hoods that'd work for sure.

Hopefully someone will chime in with more concrete knowledge.

 

Be sure to check the classified sections for used hoods. You might find one that doesn't need paint!

 

02-05 was the same style. Looks like all the same hoods except for the SRT10 scooped hood.

Seems like a high estimate on paint. Have any pics?

Those are my intentions, but I wanted to know what year(s) I needed, before I started searching.

to bad i took mine to the junk yard last month........not a scratch on it. couldnt give the darn thign away.

 

I still have mine, its black metallic. brand new.. I took it off only after a few hundred miles. make me an offer if your interested,,

 

I do not think a 2008 hood will fit........

 

Does anyone know if a 2007 1500 hood will fit? I found one for only $100!

 

I have an 05 hood on my 07 so YES it will fit. The headlights changed in 07 but the hood is exactly the same..

Alot better price than $500ish to repaint my truck's hood.
