Being new to you, I'd say change all fluids and filters right away. You don't know the history. I change my oil every 8,000 miles. I start thinking about it at 5,000, getting supplies ready. I change the fuel filter every other oil change. Look at your manual. It'll give you fluid change intervals as well. There's other fluids to maintain besides oil, like the trans and rear diff. Fornt too if it 4X4. If an auto, there's some adjustments that need to be made occasionally too.

You can also use this site for fluid capacities and type to use.
AMSOIL Online Product Application Guide
Enter your model year, Click on the temps icon and liquid units then the build list. Hit the enter key, then pick the type of vehicle you have. On the RH side will be listed the different fluid capacities and what SAE level of lubricant is required. This will list all of the axles that are available for that model year on this truck, so you will need to know the style and size of the axle on the truck.
Hope this helps.
Jim

With the newer oil (CJ-4) I would start changing every 5,000 miles.
If you can still find CI-4 oil in your area.... 7,500 is good for oil & filter.
And use only Fleetguard Filters.
Good source for these and other stuff is Geno's Garage

Congrats on your new truck.....and good lucks with it. 04.5 was a good yr for CTD's.

Thanks for all the info. As far as history I have been intouch with the 2nd owner and he has given me info on some of the history. He just went into the Auto Trans and put in a 3 pk system with kelvar bands 800 mls, larger trans pan also larger rear pan both of them have new Syn Oil installed. He changed did the engin oil about 4,000 mls with AMSOIL, Filter.

I'd change the oil every 5K - 10K whatever you are comfortable with.
I use the Fleetguard LF16035 oil filter and the FS 19856 fuel filter (or a Baldwin 7977) .

I change the fuel filter every 15K - 20K but I drain the water every oil change.
