Question: Can the overhead "computer" be adjusted

My actual/calculated MPG is noticeably different than shown on the overhead. I.e., overhead shows I'm getting close to 21-ish. Hand-calculated shows otherwise (17-18 range).

Question: Can the overhead be adjust so that it is more/closer to accurate?

There is a tsb for the overhead not being accurate and fuel mileage, the dealership said that they reflashed my ecm for this tsb per my request when I had it there for the air bag recall. I have not noticed any difference.

Thanks for reminding me to remove Smarty before getting my passenger airbag replaced.

I think I had that same reflash done when I had an 03, and I didn't notice much difference.

The OP having an 06 I would think it has the updated software.

I don't know if any vehicle has a mpg guesser that is accurate.

The last flash I received brought it much closer, it's still 1-2mpg high depending on what the bulk of my travel was city vs fwy.

Regarding "the last flash received..." Does this imply you've had the need, or occasion to have the computer flashed?...more than once? D

Seems like they flashed it every time it went into the dealer. I'd say 3-4 flashes since 06 sounds about right.

I try to avoid the dealer, but sometimes I don't have a choice.
