Popping noise in steering column

I have a popping noise coming from the steering column that only occurs first thing in the morning and only when backing up. After pulling out the driveway the noise disappears. Feels like binding with the steering shaft bushings. I tried spraying some synthetic lube at the CV joints and silicone spray on the bushings.
Anyone have this issue? Is there a fix without taking it to the dealer?

Got the same thing just a few pops when I start up and get moving then it quits.

Exact same thing here. Never really gave it any thought.

Mine's got it, too. I just figured it's her way of telling me 'hello' in the mornings! Never thought too much of it, but I'll keep watching this thread in case someone has a solution...

Mine has also started popping recently. It will do it at any given time though, not just in the morning.

Think I might have found the cause. It's from the front suspension. I have a couple of large blocks of wood that I use for wheel chocks in my garage. Usually I will pull up to the blocks and when the wheels hit the blocks I set the parking brake. I believe from the loading on the suspension and sitting overnight the bushings take a set. Pulling away from the blocks allows the bushings to shift and that's where the popping is from. The last few nights I stopped just before the blocks and didn't have the popping the next morning.
