Oversized Spare tire storage.

I am currently running 37in tires and have a full sized spare. The tire takes up quite a bit of my bed. I was thinking of fabbing a mounting bracket to attach it to my toolbox so it stays upright.

I know they sell tailgates that store it, but they run like 1000 bucks

What are someways yall store yalls or have seen.

You can fab up something like in the links pretty cheap, but under $50 aint bad.

I bought and installed a front mount receiver hitch and spare carrier. I only use it when I have the slide in camper on the truck. I would not call it a cool look but I have traveled all the way to Alaska and back with it with no problems. It does not even cause heating problems for the truck even though it sets right in front of the radiator. The front receiver can be used for other things like winch, manuvering trailers or wagons etc.

i've got a 37'' tire on the stock steel rim under the bed. it's a used tire, i picked up a set of 4 mud's for $100. it barely fits in the frame rails. doesn't hang down too low either. now a new tire may sit down futher.
i was going to stand it up in my bed til i tried underneath first.

I was going to fab up something similar to this. One of those would work because my rim is too big, but I can pick up some scrap aluminum from school and just put it together for free.

With a 5" exhaust, there is noway I could fit a 37" spare in the stock spare location

I have a truck cap, so I bought two of the aluminum cap clamps, put the spare up against the clamps, and ran a Masterlock cable (rubber coated, with loop ends) through the inside of the clamps, and secured it with a lock

Nice and solid way to mount the 37" spare out of the way

Brand new 35" spare here. It's a very tight fit, and hard to get up there. Hits my stock exhaust on the way up. Maybe half inch clearance each side. If your 37 doesn't fit i'd consider getting a bald 37, or a 35 spare. Close enough in side they will be fine on the really rare chance you ever need the spare. I just got so sick of my tire in the box, I was going to get rid of it before i'd keep it in there any longer.

I already have a fullsize spare, And two of my Dick Cepeck wheels already cracked, so I think that rare chance is more than rare, haha.

Dick Cepeck did send me a set of four new rims, I got to take the truck in this week and get them put on.
