Spare Tire Storage Issue-305/70R 17

Hey yall,

Anybody know if 305/70R will fit on the stock spare rim and store under a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500?

If not, any aftermarket suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks HotRod,

So obviously it will fit.

Is it on the stock spare rim (7" width?). Ever any concern that the chain can support the weight?

Hate to wipe out a family of four in a Caravan. Not a good career move.

I've had my 315-70-17 spare sitting up under there on the stock wheel for a while now and no problems fitting at all. Not too worried about the weight either.

Have a good one.

Me too, on an H2 rim, just fits.

I've threaded a Master 6' cable lock through the bed crossmembers and the rim ever since my wife spotted my spare on the driveway. That was with my '98.5,but I've used one ever since. The winch had failed. You'll sleep at night and the folks in the Caravan will too. Amazon.com has them for $18.00. Home Depot has them also. Just don't lose the key.

I've had a 315/70/17 on a stock wheel in there for five years. Threw a cable lock on there for added security. After many Dune trips and all sorts of bouncing around, it still hasn't budged.
