Odd blinker/hazards issue

Yesterday on my way home I had my right blinker on to switch lanes, all of a sudden it stopped...No lamp out indicator or anything, didn't even hear it clicking.

I switched over to try my left blinker, dead. I tried my hazards, dead.

About a 1/4 mile up the road, they all started working again, but I would get a stutter blink. blink...blink.blink.blink...blink...blink.blink... blink...blink...blink.blink, then it would go dead again for a few minutes.

What the heck?

Sounds like a loose connection.

The same thing happened to me, blinkers would not blink, left would blink right, blink slow, ect. You need to replace the Multi-Function Switch. I was out of warranty so I got the switch from DodgeParts.com and replaced it myself. Very easy job, a phillips and a T15 torx driver is all you need.

-Hey Mike where is this multi-function switch located and what is the cost. I have the same problem, just been dealing with it. I thought it was a turn signal switch, don't want to pull steering wheel.

Mine did it when I was pulling a trailer, then it did it when the trailer was disconnected a couple times. The problem went away and has never returned. We found the trailer had a shorted wire, fixed it and all is good.

No need to pull the steering wheel. Here.........the instructions will vary a little for the 2nd gen guy, but his is actually a little easier. I will say this CAN be done without removing the wheel. Just turn the wheel so you can get to the screws.

REMOVAL
WARNING: To avoid personal injury or death, on vehicles equipped with airbags, disable the supplemental restraint system before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, airbag, seat belt tensioner, impact sensor, or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the supplemental restraint system. Failure to take the proper precautions could result in accidental airbag deployment.

Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
Remove the driver airbag from the steering wheel. (Refer to 8 - ELECTRICAL/RESTRAINTS/DRIVER AIRBAG - REMOVAL).
Disconnect the steering wheel wire harness connectors from the upper clockspring connector receptacles.
CAUTION: Be certain that the screws that secure the steering wheel puller to the steering wheel are fully engaged in the steering wheel armature without passing through the steering wheel and damaging the clockspring.

Remove the steering wheel from the steering column. (Refer to 19 - STEERING/COLUMN/STEERING WHEEL - REMOVAL).
Grasp the tilt steering column **** (2) firmly and pull it straight rearward to remove it from the tilt adjuster lever (1) on the left side of the column.

From below the steering column, remove the two outboard screws that secure the upper column shroud (1) to the lower shroud (3).
Using hand pressure, press inward on both sides of the upper shroud above the parting line of the lower shroud to release the snap features that secure the two shroud halves to each other.
Remove the upper shroud from the lower shroud and the steering column.
Remove the one center screw that secures the lower shroud to the steering column (4).
Remove the lower shroud from the steering column.

Disconnect the wire harness connector (2) from the back of the multi-function switch housing (1).
Remove the two screws (4) that secure the switch to the multi-function switch mounting housing (3).
Grasp the switch control stalk and pull it toward the left side of the vehicle to remove the switch from the mounting housing

If it is low, you can get replacement blinker fluid HERE! LOL Good site for your automotive friendly buddy who is hard to buy for. I personally like the flux capacitor. They are in stock!

Which side blinks?

Seemed like mine had a mind of its own. I'd turn the signal to left, it'd blink a couple of times then the right would blink. I checked with the truck stopped to see if it was just inside, and it wasn't. It was an accident waiting to happen. The dealer replaced the multifunction switch for $100 parts and labor.

The Multi-Function Switch is the whole turn signal stalk assembly. I think I paid $39.00 for it. Remove the steering column shroud (this is where the T-15 driver is needed) and like vzdude said turn the wheel to get at the screws holding the switch assembly and then just pull it out.
