Wink New 2006 CTD...fresh numbers...weight and MPG

Greetings all. I picked up my signature truck last Friday, 6-2-06 and had a busy week adding step bars, Line-X and Reese 16 K hitch. I finally burned up my first tank of diesel, topped it off, weighed it and did the MPG calculations.
Weight with absolutely full fuel tank (yes, diesel ran down the side of my truck, ) Line-X spray in bedliner, Reese 16K hitch and my 235 lbs...7580 lbs. MPG = 15.65...driving was a mix of city and highway driving. Truck now has about 600 miles on it. Onboard computer said that I was getting about 16.5 mpg most of the time. How does that compare with what you other new 2006 owners are getting and seeing? I'm going to tow a small 5er (5000 to 6000 lbs) this weekend about 4 hours one way...can't wait to see how she does. I will be adding gauges nest week when I return...ran out of time this week.

You are 720 pounds lighter than mine, and about the same fuel mileage at that mile marker.. I am now getting over 20mpg when not towing.

Thumbs up

I only had about 30 miles of highway driving, but I just filled up for the 1st time and it returned 13.44mpg. This was not in my "conservation" mode, so I dont see why it wouldnt get about what you are getting.

Mine was 15.6 on the comp 15.7 on the calc about 50/50 city/hwy.

I spent the first couple of mornings strippin all the letters off of it.

May do the bars tomorrow. Can't really decide which ones to get.
Do the Westin bars (premiers I presume) stick out far enough to stop a careless door in a parking lot?

No, it won't stop doors but it will help you push aside smaller vehicles as you pull in the parking spot if you are carefull (or so I'm told ).

My dually is about 500 pounds or so heavier than yours and I was getting about the same mixed mileage at same point. With 200 miles on the clock took a 250 mile mileage run at 70 mph and got 18.2 mpg. Did the same thing at 1600 miles and got 18.4. Have 1950 on her now and I've started towing the 5ver doing the 500 miles at 50 mph thing. Taking off for a couple thousand miles towing in 10 days so wanted to get it broken in according to manual.
