Assembly Plants - Mexico vs. Missouri

While looking at 2006 Ram 2500 window stickers, I have been noticing that some are assembled in Mexico and others in Missouri.

IS there a real-world difference in quality if one comes from a USA plant vs. Mexico???

My Mexico-built '03 has been a great quality truck with great fit and finish. My previous '00 was a St. Louis truck and it was great as well.

In reality, there's probably no difference. In theory it is kind of nice to know your "American Made" vehicle, for the most part, really is "American Made".

Between my father who has purchased 12 of these trucks, plus the three personal trucks, and the ones in my work fleet, the Mexican trucks are head and shoulders above the american ones in quality. JMHO, I am sure that statement will ruffle feathers, but--------

I've heard the same thing....mexican trucks have better quality than the american ones.

I've had 2 Mexican-built 3500 duallies, a 1996 and my current 2002. Both have been some of the best-assembled vehicles I've had in over 40 years of vehicle ownership.

I equate mine with the quality of some of my (other) vehicles such as MB/Acura/Toyota/Honda, etc. My 06 has the fit/finish and bank vault feel/sound when the doors are opened/closed that I thought I'd never ever see in a (gasp!) truck. It was assembled in Mexico.

Both plants get the same parts from the same companies. They get assembled in pretty much the same manner. If you have owned nothing but mexican made ram's, and have been happy, then of course you'll say mexican made are the best. Same as people who strictly buy american made. You'll find that Ram 3500's and mega cabs are currently built in mexico, and Im pretty sure all 2500 Diesels are Missouri made.

I am completely Bias because I work at the plant in missouri. There isnt a person that I know of that doesnt care about the Truck we build. And we Take great pride in building a truck that diesel and gasser owners love to drive.

Well, one of the earlier posters said that the mexican rams are head and shoulders better. I would at least assume that of all the trucks he and his father own, some are mexican and some are american.

MY '03 2500 was assembled in Saltillo, MX. Regardless of assembly point Dodge trucks are 93.7 percent manufactored in the USA according to Detroit News article. The article also pointed out that the so called made in USA Japans trucks were less than thirty percent manufactored here but are assembled here.

Mine was made at the North Pole by Santa. He left a note saying that the parts where from all over, but was a GREAT truck, and even said his sled had a Cummins for back up power. something about a new Cummins 36 hove power, or what ever you call them. Just hope the EPA does't make him put a cat in the riendeer to reduce droppings (emissions)

My 04.5 2500 was built in Mexico, no build quality issues to date.

How do you find out where your truck was built? Im sure its an easy answer, I just never thought about it, and never looked or cared to find out.
