I'm too lazy to measure

Has anyone driven a king bed mattress and box around in the back of their short bed? How well does it fit? What about a queen? This is my first pick-up.

I used to work for a mattress company. King will not fit in the bed width wise, but I think I remember a queen will. You have to do something with the wheel well humps to level the bed out.... and the bed would be near the top of the rail with just a piece of plywood underneath the mattress. Sounds like you have a cap on your truck and looking for some camping potential.

What he said...I helped a friend move not too long ago (he has a short bed...I have a long bed). The queen will fit but you will have to fab up something to get it above the wheel humps. A king won't fit width wise. They had both matress sizes when they moved.

King fits on top of the bed rails just perfect. Kinda hard to tie down though.

....and support underneath. If it fit inside of a cap... that would be nice though. Still could put stuff underneath if you did it right.

Actually, I'm buying a new bed and I will be moving to the other coast in a few months. I like kings but I wanted to see what kind of hassle it would be to move it there. Queen sounds a lot easier.

It is more like 4 months... I don't want to sleep on a blow-up or the couch all summer.
