Look for a sticker on the drivers side of the valve cover, it will tell you...

The SO will have 235HP listed (California) or 250 everyone else. The HO will have 305HP listed on the tag...drivers side like tryNto said.

And I thought the SO was only avail in the 250s and all 3500s were HO. Oh well, Merry Christmas.

SO (no pun intended) if a truck has the 6 (meaning SO) and it was origionally sold in TEXAS....it would be a:

SO with the 250 hp....not the 235 hp sold in MA, CA, ME correct..

and further on that line of thought...

it would not have the CAT or EGR equipment required for the SO 235 in MA,CA,or ME....

please let me know I am in the market and do not want to deal with the CAT or EGR...cuz CALIFORUBA or CALICOMMIE which ever you want to choose is now SMOGGING these trucks.

Just look for the CAT or for signs that there may have been one there before. The sticker on the valve cover is the easiest way to tell for sure.....

absolutly agree that is the easiest things to do or look for....

but it is hard to do when looking at a truck 1500 miles away, pictures usually dont show the undercarrage and trusting a salesman to actually know anything about a motor is like trusting the devil to know anything peace, love and kindness..lol
