Went in on friday to get that high idle TSB 18-004-04 flashed in my computer and dealership said its not for my truck and they wont do it. WTH? There was a post on here a few days again saying folks with the 04.5 had it done. Anyone have info in writing or so forth that can help?

The TSB 18-037-04 is the flash that was done to mine last year that added the manual high idle and allowed the tech to enable it.

This TSB was for white smoke on cold start up and Overhead MPG Calculation improvement. Suppose to add a little mpg improvement.

Mine works fine.

go to genosgarage.com and print out the tsb. it has the years affected at the top of the page. if that doesn't work, i could also fax you a copy of mine tsb receipt from my dealer.

It took me four trips for my 2005 and I had to prove the feature was there already. The diesel tech swore that after 2004 the option was not available. I showed him were the owner's manual said it was an option (pg. 226 for 2005). I had printed 16 pages of this forum and the TSB from Geno's Garage.
Read the TSB were it discusses which computers need the flash. It says that computers up to a certain point need the flash and later versions need only to have it enabled with the DBRIII.
Be advised at this point the dealership may want you to pay for there time (less than five minutes). This happened to me, it's funny how at first it was not an option and then they wanted $40 to enable something that was not there ten minutes earlier.
FYI - I did not pay. If I have to teach the dealership about there products, I should be getting paid.
One more thing, if you can find a dealership that knows about this feature (look through the other threads on this - there is a phone number to a dealer in Reno), have it ready in case the dealership you go to needs some professional help.

As 4x4Bob said the feature is already there. The TSB alluded to reflashing the ECM but our year is not included in the TSB and the feature is already in the ECM. Talk to the tech if you can, complain about cab head during cold weather. He should be able to hook up the scan tool and after about 30 seconds find the item and enable it. That is the part of the TSB that the tech needs to follow, just do not have to do the flash to do it. Took me 4 trips to the dealer and finally drove around to the back door and spoke to the tech. Slipped him $5 as that was all I had at the time and he enabled it without going thru the hassle with the service writer. And yes I have a 004.5 325/600 and it works fine.
If the tech isn't very experianced he may not understand it but ask him to attempt, if he is not willing try another dealer.
